What is the keyed cylinder to the right of the rear license plate? When I turn the key, the cylinder comes out. What does it do? THANKS,MH

 

Its for the spare tire.

 

When you get around to reading that book in the glove box, it will tell you what that and the many other fine features of your new truck are!

It's to get the spare tire cranked down and prevents some one from stealing it. Same for the tail gate...

 

Thanks, Don't assume everyone has a book in the box! Mine is supposed to be delivered here as soon as Ford sends my order. The Dealer lost my book. MH
