Is this the back end Shudder some people had or have?
.
I just got off the phone with another dealer that I deal with. I called to make an apppintment to have my truck looked at for the back end shudder that I am feeling.
The minute I told her what I was feeling, she knew exactly what I was talking about! She said it's your clutches, and said already this week they had to replace 4 other f150's clutch packs due to the same problem and mine need changing out as well! (not even going for a test drive to show them) They made an appointment for this coming Tuesday to have my clutch packs changed.
I can't believe how much of a known problem this is! I have 3k miles on my truck right now and I'm gettign a little pissed about all these little problems I'm having! As long as there being taken care of, then I'm happy.

shudder info
Had mine replaced at 3000 miles,, would do it coming outta the garage and making a left turn,, dealer had it for one day,, had to wait for ordered parts about a week,, tech told me ford had tried new clutch pads on the limited slip,, but the pads turned out to be too hard and would not absorb any oil at all,, the pads need to be lubricated a little as they slide on the clutch just a little when truck is moving,,sitting over night the pads would dry out,,hence the vibration when cold,,new pads are softer and absorb the rear end flluid a little better,, you could smell the rear end fluid all over the shop when i picked up my truck,, no problems at all after that,,only problem i ever had with truck over a yr now,, jop

just got mine back from the dealer yesterday. Had the clutch packs replaced, and work order also indicates they added the friction modifier oil. Seems to be working great now. I mentioned the TSB number when I dropped it off, only took them one day to wait for the parts to come in and install them. My truck has almost 8000 miles on it, and the shudder started a few thousand ago.
also had the PCM reflashed and throttle response is better as others have indicated!

Steve- Do you happen to have the TSB number for this problem? I want to see what the TSB says the problem is so I know what to tell my dealership.
At least Ford has a fix for this. I'm pretty patient when it comes to cars and this will be the first time she's seen the dealership. I've got 7000 miles on it.

TSB # 04-01-06
They also lubed the slip yoke too.
I drafted up a letter with 4 problems I had with my truck. Seemed to work well for me, as I described everything in detail, so they knew what exactly to look for, including referring to the TSB.
here is what I wrote about the shudder:
"I have an occasional rear end clunk/shudder that mostly occurs when the truck is cold, no matter what the outside temperature is. It mainly occurs when making a turn from a dead stop and/or on a hill. My truck has the 3.73 LS rear end. I think there is a Technical Service Bulletin out for this, possibly TSB # 04-01-06, that involves checking/replacing the clutch packs? Also, with the clunk, maybe check if the slip yoke needs lubricated?"

^hey, actually I just checked my work order invoice and it says TSB 04 24 20 to replace clutch packs.
but I remember getting that other TSB number from this site for the rear end shudder...

I noticed this about a month ago, tell me if this is the back end shudder or not. I noticed when I'm at a full stop at a red light and light turns green for me to make my left turn, I feel a skiping in the back end up the truck, I can feel it in the gas pedal I can feel it through out the truck and steering wheel. It's minor though, it's enough where you can feel it though.
Then, sometimes it doesn't do it at all? I tried to duplicate it and sometimes I can't get it to do that. From a dead stop going striaght, I don't feel a thing, only on left hand hand turns and once before on a right hand turn did I feel this vibration coming from the back end that went throughout the truck.
Is this the back end shudder that I have? I hope not..my dealer is going to have a heart attack if they see me come in for another reason!
