Talking Got flashed...

No, not nearly as exciting as it sounds. I got my PCM reflashed with the latest and there is a noticeable difference. Lag is reduced and I seem to have a lot more available at the top end. I highly recommend it for anyone that hasn't had it done and has one of the older settings.

Definitely not the same difference that one of the tuners may have made, but I am happy with it. I'll get the tuner some time later down the road.

What version or code is the latest now? Just wondering as I've not had mine done yet.

Actually, I guess that I don't know that it is the latest, but they did upgrade it and it is noticeable. The update that I am on now (according to invoice) is 4U7A 12A650 GRA. Obviously, can't just take it in and ask, give them a good reason (throttle lag, etc)

How long did it take them to reflash your PCM? How is the throttle lag compared to before?

I took mine in stating that there was throttle lag and that I wanted the latest software. Took me about 3 hours to get it done. only cause I walked ( err drove in ) right up and didn't have an appointment.

I had it in for other stuff so don't know for sure, but they put it down as .4 hours on the invoice and no doubt they overstate that stuff some. I still notice it misses a quick beat when I stomp on it, but not at all like it was before. FWIW - my truck was a 2/04 manufacture and no doubt the PCM had not been updated since then.

Is this something that you can just go request or do you have to have a valid problem with your truck?

I swear from the time I stomp on the gas it takes about 5 secounds to go. Getting on the highway is pretty damn annoying with it like this...

For it to be covered under warranty you will need a valid problem. I just told them throttle lag and I don't think they did any verification. Talk to your dealer, they may let you if there is no problem, but then I am not sure why you would want it done then

Well, thats a problem with all the new f150's unless you have a tuner. I think everyone who owns the truck could argue a lag issue. I guess I am just wondering if there is a NOTICEABLE change? Is your truck a little faster off the line? How bout on top? Is it worth it? If it is, suddenly I have a HUGE LAG ISSUE if you catch my drift

Is this thing on?

Both off the line and on the top end improved noticeably for me. YMMV.

pcm flash

I just got my truck "reflashed" 2 weeks ago. As others have said, it makes a noticeable difference. Especially when the gas pedal is pushed half way down and held there to accelerate.
