Burning Smell

I have seen/searched and found posts about people smelling a burning smell from the rear of their truck, some well after 5k miles, but have not seen any solutions. I have 15k on my truck now and have noticed a few times lately after driving I smella burning smell from the rear of my truck, like brakes. This is under normal driving, no load and yes I had the brake off. Anybody else have this going on still, did it go away or somebody have something fixed? I have decided you guys know more than the dealers seem to so I would prefer to start with a more knowledgabe base of guys.

Might be bad gas because that smells and the rear of the truck is where you would notice it.

I've noticed this smell on my truck as well. I think it is normal- I can't isolate where it is coming from. But after you drive it awhile, check your rear discs. Make sure they aren't blazing hot. There have been issues of the parking brake mech. hanging up causing brake drag in the rear. Good luck.

smell

I have also noticed this smell from my truck,, but only in the summer time and after towing my boat for a while,,i first thought it was the rust coating burning off the muffler,, but next time i am going to feel the tire wheels to see if the brakes are making them hot,, brakes could be hanging up after using them and expanding causing burning if not enough clearance from pads to disc,,taking truck in for oil change and will have dealer check clearance of pads to disc to make sure they are not too close,,jop
