please explain the difference between a lariat and a Lincoln LT?

I was just looking on the lincoln site at the LT.... all it is, is a loaded lariat with a butt ugly front grille and rear tail lights and tailgate. I much rather perfer my lariat any day of the week compaired to the LT?? overpriced and ugly IMO. Only thing I like about the LT are the painted door handle surrounds (dont like the chrome door handle)... im going to paint my lariats body color in the spring.

there's probably a lot of features that are just not listed

ie Town Cars with the cigar lighters and ashtrays in every door. Not a big deal but is an added feature over the Crown Vic and not necessarily listed on the standard items list.

LT specs

From Lincoln LT dealer training guide:
Key Why Buys
Sophisticated Exterior
Lincoln grille and tail lamp treatments
18-inch, 7-spoke machined cast-aluminum wheels
Chromed-accent lower bodyside cladding, door handle strips and side rearview mirror caps
Optional chromed bedside rails and dealer-installed step bars
Distinctive, signature Lincoln exterior styling and design cues make the Mark LT stand out from full-size pickups as the new benchmark for luxury and style.

Luxurious Interior
Real Ebony wood, leather and warm steel-trimmed interior
Heated leather-trimmed seats (1st-row)
Audiophile AM/FM/MP3-capable sound system with 6-disc in-dash CD player
Available power moonroof
The well-appointed and elegant interior complements the exterior by adding Lincoln design and high-quality materials to set a new benchmark for luxurious, capable style.

True Truck Functionality and Capability
Available in 4x2 and 4x4 configurations
5.4L 3V V-8 engine with 300 horsepower and 365 lb.-ft. of torque
8900-lb. maximum towing capacity, when properly equipped
1620-lb. maximum payload capacity
5.5-foot, fully-functional cargo box
Crew Cab with 4 full-size doors and 5-passenger seating
Independent double wishbone front suspension, power rack-and-pinion steering and 4-wheel disc ABS

In short, it appears to be purely comfort/convenience "improvements" over a fully loaded Lariat/King Ranch with the Lincoln warranty. I'll pass myself!

Actually, its only about 2 to 3k...but I gotta believe that I would rather the 2 to 3k for mods on a similarly equipped F-150.

I think our trucks have more room to bargain on though, thats like going in and trying to bargin on a Porsche. Well not as close, but I got my truck for about 13K less than retail, I doubt Id be able to get that on the LT.

i have sat in one...and have to say that the materials are a bit better. the leathers are nicer, much like the king ranch. while I would never get it, the white interior is totally sick. i see the appeal, and lets say I had the money for two trucks, I would get a F250 for work & towing, and a Lincoln for about town.

i love the FX4 though

I think the Lincoln LT has a 32-valve 5.4L engine too (or not?)

The LT uses the 3V 5.4 just like F150s and current Expeditions do. The 5.4 4V has been more or less phased out in favor of the 3V, since it makes the same torque that the 4V did at a lower RPM.

Expect to see them sometime in March or April.
