Several 'answers' for you ... several forum users have camera setups.

https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ghlight=camera https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ghlight=camera https://www.f150online.com/forums/sh...ghlight=camera www.hitchcam.com ... would personally go for the FrameCAM in order to keep hitch free and clear for use, etc. Plus, this would help line up whatever you're about to hook up for towing. Seach ebay for (hitchcam, framecam) and/or camera +(backup,back-up). http://search.store.yahoo.com/cgi-bi...y/nsearch.html |

I got mine off of eBay. See my pixs for the install. There's a hole already in the steel bumper, just had to drill through the plastic cover. It's located just to the left of the license plate.

do you have it so it come on when you put it into reverse, if so how did you do it

I was thinking of moving it up on the shell like the "UPS" trucks have it.https://www.f150online.com/galleries...186-111242.jpg

Looks like AKFX42004 got a few good replies on Ford Truck World as well ... for those who are also looking for back-up camera options, pics, etc.

That was one of my first mods . I used the receiver for mounting and it does not interfere with the hitch. Works well except for the outer corners of the vehicle. I've found it to be a great help.

I've read of some people hooking it up to the reverse lights so that it comes on when the truck is put in reverse. I wired mine all of the way up to the head unit, so it is on all of the time (use it when towing a trailer with my motorycle on it to check on it from time to to time). Either way will work. Eventually I'm going to install a small switch somewhere in the dash to manually turn it on when I want to and off otherwise.
If you're only going to use it for backing up, just wire it in to the reverse lights. If you want to use it at any time, wire it up to the head unit like I've done. |
