Aftermarket Reverse Sensing

I know some of you have installed aftermarket reverse sensing gadgets, there have been some threads on them. I am looking at different models, but having a hard time finding anything good. I dont want anything too obtrusive (preferably a control display that can be hidden, etc.) Who has added this aftermarket? Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hitchcam

Try looking at a hitchcam.com, I have one of these installed and it is far better than any reversing sensor (you can see!!),

You get a very wide low view out the back of your truck.

I have this one on order...

www.stratusgroupsite.com

YellowFX4Screw has it and says it work well.

They also have video demo on the site.

I got the 4 sensor unit. Not sure if I will use all 4. Might even put one on the front.

It has a distance readout and sound.

Hitchcam Purchase

I brought mine from from these guys:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...category=48609

Deliveried everything OK $544 plus shipping

They do sell them elsewhere for $750 plus

If you check consumers Mag , Hitchcam got the highest ratings , aftermarket sensors did not rate that high, thats another reason I went for the camera view.

Dealer also told me that his aftermarket sensors would only work to about 70% as good as factory .

I really think that you can't beat being able to see claerly behind you

Pictures

The best pictures are on Hitchcam.com ( Im a pretty good photographer but those shots are the best).

I am not that mechenically inclined, and was worried about destroying the interior, so I got the Best Buy Guys to do, it took less than an hour, hardest part was where to fit the LCD sceen, I have the larger auto mirror (could not put the bracket under) so its installed at the R/H tip between the passenger side sun visor and mirror.

After watching them installing it most people could do it as long as they knew how to run the cable under the carpet and up under the side panels the running of the cable under the car probaly took all of 10mins

The installer liked so much he's getting one for his parents.

I found the Hitchcam Customer service great, I called for some extra foam gasket for between the camera "housing " and hitchlock ,sent without question . They also sent an upgraded adhesive strip for the LCD Monitor. I live in the North east so the weather makes adhering anything on cold glass a problem.

Another great buying point for the Hitchcam is that if you ever descide to sell your truck you can take it with you, No problems, the sensors are usually drilled into the bumper unless you go for the outside wired type.

No one asked this, but it works just as well at night.

I researched this purchase alot b4 buying but to this point am very happy with my purchase.

**In regards to LCD screen to DVD, Ill be honest it it was not question I asked but again, hitchcam customer service will answer that question for you.

Hope this helps

Stephen

how much did that unit run you? i think the factory one is 250 dollars, but if i can add one later, even for the same $$ that will make the initial price a litle lower

$237.60 for the 4 sensor unit.

$8 for 4 sensor brackets.

I do not think I am willing to drill the bumper. At least not at first.
