anyone know if the average dirt bike will fit inside a 5.5 bed, tailgate open of course, but with the bed extender in place?

I could fit my CRF250 fine in my bed with the tailgate down and even put it in corner to corner with the tailgate up.

Gpaje, thanks for the offer but I haven't got my truck yet so i won't keep you waiting

Jimmy K, I'm not that keen on letting $5000 skid around in the back, that's one of the reasons why i'm getting a truck: more room for toys

if you have a $5000 Mtn bike I would assume you use it offroad. So why are you worried about scratches?

I know it sounds silly but scratches earned on trails are thought of as battlescars and thus cool, scratches earned on the way to the trails in the back of the car suck. (the bikes aren't $5K each they come to $5K together, I aint THAT good yet)

I JUST installed my motorcycle / bicycle mounting system in my Screw last night. Turned out really nice. I used it in a similar configuration for the last two years but modified It so it will hold THREE motorcycles. Has nice stainless steel eyes for the tiedowns or I can use it two carry two bicycles using the fork mounts. Was $99 for the mount and I bought two bicycle mounts for $15 that attached easily. I have a really nice Ready-ramp that double as a bed extender / loading ramp so I usually keep the taigate down when transporting motorcycles. Also, I have been using rock climbing caribiners that attach directly to the end of the tiedown straps abd soft ties.
NEVER have to worry about hooks coming undone and loosing your bike !!! The motorcycle rack allows me to keep the front wheel secure and the bike pretty lose so I don't have to worry about having the tiedowns really tight and sacking out the suspension. Works REALLY nice. Will take pictures tonight and will post photos tomorrow.

Took some pictures early this morning of my motorcycle/bicycle mount and system. It has taken me a while to get this setup really fast, secure, and easy to use !!!

That's pretty much exactly what i was hoping to achieve, Thanks CRF250!!
Is that ramp/bed extender a custom item or is it widely available?

Nice bikes by the way

It is called Ready Ramp and I got it at a motorcycle shop. I think it was about $250 but I can't remember for sure. I also saw these for sale on the internet. I'm sure doing a search you could find it.
I can tell you this... EVERY time we go riding everyone borrows my ramp to unload and load their bikes because there ramps are crappy. Worth the price if you ask me.

CRF250Racer,

I have the same exact bike rack - same ready ramp - and almost same bike - CRF450.

I got the ready ramp with my last f350 that was lifted - and a pain to load up at the end of a long day at the track. Dont need it as much with the f150 - but it sure works well for me.

Does someone have a pic of a bicycle mounted with a 2X4 in the 2X4 slots?
