Polished wheels?????
Polished wheels?????
how hard are polished wheels to take care of? whats the best thing to clean them with??? iam wanting to get the Centerline Crossfires, but i heard polished wheels are a pain, what u think???
I don't have them, but am kind of considering some polished wheels as well. As for cleaning, I've read about the following in some forum threads:
* soap and water
* Windex
* Eagle 1 A to Z wheel cleaner (polish?)
I'm sure others who actually have such wheels will have their own cleaning suggestions.
Which Centerlines are you considering?

I have polished Centerline wheels on my Screw and dont see what the big deal is. I clean them with Windex and that does it. Since they are aluminum you gotta watch what you put on them but the Windex is safe and gets the job done. They are no more trouble than any other after market wheel that I have had. I have had a few sets in my lifetime.
I had a set of polished aluminum Weld Draglites on a 1972 Nova SS I had a few years ago and they were impossible to keep shiny. I polished them using Mother's metal polish about once a month and I never drove the car in the rain or the snow. I would never get polished aluminum wheels again. I would look for something with a clearcoat or chrome.
BadFX - I think the key is where you live. If you live anywhere that snows and has salt on the roads 4-6 months out of the year, run away from polished wheels... unless you like to polish. Then polish some more, and really polish each spring trying to get the luster back. I know Centerline is a good wheel and has that 5-year luster warrenty... but I'm still too gunshy from my last polished wheel expiriance...
wax em
I have heard that if you take the time and wax the wheels they will stay shiny for a lot longer without having to polish them. I am getting the centerline crossfires put on tomorrow and will post the results when I do it.

Polishing wheels does get to be a PITA. I polish mine every couple of months with Blue Majic. If you don't polish them, they will tarnish/fade. I know that Centerline claims that their forged wheels are easier to polish than cast aluminum wheels, which is what most aftermarket wheels are.
