DP2,

Use the search function at the top right of the forum list. There has been a lot of discussion on the 17's and 18's-that's propbably why you're not getting any responses.

I am running 18's so I can't give you an answer. Good luck

I've tried to do searches for 2 days now and evidently the search function is under repair. I just got my truck so of course I'm impatient and want to put bigger tires on it right away !

I still have the stock General 255/70s on mine.

But most folks say you can go 285/70-17 very safely without lifting anything. The 17" wheels are 7.5" wide, so most tire manufacturers say 285 is the widest.

Some folks have put larger on with reportedly no problems except some rubbing...or they have installed autospring kits (or similar lifts) to make clearance.

Hope this helps until the search function is up and running again. Once it is, you should be able to find all the info you need.

Several people here and at FTW have run 315/70-17's (35x12.50) on the OEM wheels without any problems. A lot of people are running 35's on the 04-05 4x4's by using the OEM wheels and a 2.5 inch leveling kit.

This site has two different 'tire and wheel' forums and approx. 75% of the threads are "what's the biggest tire I can put on......".

still not sure of what I'm going to do. don't want to have to re-gear the rear end so if I go up in size it will probably be minimal. I'll post if I sell the current tires (125 miles right now).

ke7065,

What kind and size are your tires?

I also want to keep the stock 18" FX4 wheels on my truck - but want to level it and put some tires on that are not too big - your's looks great.

Thanks,

Kirk

Kirk,

325/60R18 LT Nitto Terra Grapplers. Can't give you a price, they were put on the truck by the dealer prior to my buying it. Decent ride, "Tonka Toy' look.

Rubs at full lock on lower a-arm in front and sway at back-again only at full lock. Good luck!
