Components in!

Just installed my Infinity Reference 6800 components (front only). You can really tell a difference with acoustic guitars and drum cymbals. I have the stock headunit (6 watts!!!??!!) and the speakers really need more oomph. My next dilemma is sub/box/amp or head unit. What do you guys and gals think?

BTW, install was fairly easy with the exception of grinding the tweeter holes and dropping the tweeter socket nut into the inner door maze (doh!) it's still there.....

I also have the Infinity reference speakers and noticed the same improvement. Much better sound than the factory POS speakers. I too had to open up the holes a little for the components, but got it done and it sounds GREAT!

Definitely go with an head unit upgrade, then the amp/sub. With the new units out there, you'll be able to do everything from watch videos to installing a rear-view camera like I did (see my pix).

Soon enough you won't be able to dis-able the anti-watch device for in dash dvd players...the 2006 models. So if your going to go that route, get it now!

There's always a way around the anti-watch devices on the aftermarket head units. On the Kenwoods, all you do is ground the wire that you're supposed to run to the parking brake instead.

Finally, proof that an 8" sub will fit under the rear seat of a 04 screw! Scubaman, i need to know if their are any special installation instructions and/or pictures for this install. I was leaning towards the tube but couldnt get verification that it would fit.

Just curious, how does the 8" Bazzooka sound in the truck. It looks like it fits pretty good.

i measured about 6.75 " clearance from the carpet to the bottom of the rear seat. The smallest dimension on the 8" tube is 8 5/8" while the smallest dimension on the 6" is 7". The 6' is "doable" but the 8" probably needs a lift. Tell us more Scubaman!!!

I have the 6" Bazooka tube with with a 6" Rockford sub and it fits perfectly under the rear seat. I have it waaaaaay over powered with a Rockford Fosgate punch 100ix. It sounds pretty good but Im use to (2) 10s in my bronco and (4) 12s in my mustang. one of these days I want the JL Stealthbox but man its expensive for just a 10" sub and box.

Definitely needs more bass! My wife has an Altima with the Bose system and it blows the doors off of my setup basswise (for now).

The components were the 6x8 mid range and the standard size tweeter. Hope this helps.
