who has hooked up audiophile sub box
Who has hooked up a audiophile sub/amp box to a truck that didnt come with audiophile? I have pulled the plug up through the carpet under the rear seat, and my sub box will be here monday. I havent changed my radio out for the audiophile radio yet, so im wondering who has tried this?
kidtriton,
I hope you get good responses as I am planning on the same install.
I have a Lariat that is prewired and found the wire for the sub under the back seat but when I pulled it out all I could do is get a loop out. Can you tell me if the end was toward the door or the center of the truck as I dont want to damage the wire as I pull it. I have already pulled fairly hard with no luck but would be more confident if I knew I was pulling on the correct one.
Was yours hard to get out ?
Thanks

yea, i had to take the left rear threshold off and unbolt the rear seat bottom on the left side in order to lift the edge of the rear seat bottom and run my hand up under the carpet. The harness is taped to a plastic thing that has a hole in it and has a plastic push pin holding it to the metal floor. You have to wiggle the harness so that it pulls out of that plastic thing. I was used to doing stuff like this because i was (until a year ago) a master ford technician at a ford dealership for about ten years.
How do you know if your truck is pre-wired with-out unbolting the things mentioned before? I actually have the cut out in the carpet but was unable to find the wire. Is it pretty far back? Someone once told me that all the trucks where wired, just some don't have the audiophile. Cab anyone help?

Not every truck is prewired. My FX4 Screw wasn't. It seems like more of the Lariat models are prewired though.
I have a diagram in my gallery if you want to see where the plug is in the rear corner of the cab. But if you can't feel it within the slit of the carpet, then you most likely don't haven't.

SteveVFX4,
Thanks for the diagram. When you say plug, is that where I would have to run new wires or is thier wires to that point and I go from there? Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I am really audio challenged.

Well, i got my answer today. I got the sub box, plugged in the connector , and no bass. But i did pull the radio out, and there is a small 3rd connector for the radio that is in the dash, it just has no where to plug in on the non-audiophile radio.
So the answer is, the sub box will only work once the radio has been switched out to the audiophile radio.

Yep. You need the radio. Just plug it into the third plug on the back of the audiophile and it will work. My truck did not have the harness but I still made it work. Sounds great. I got lucky though, I put a stereo in for a KC chiefs player and he let me keep all his audiophile stuff. Free Audiophile for me!!
