Question Can I two cars out of the snow with 2WD?

Hey guys! I have my baby! :-) It's a 2004 f150 XLT Supercrew 3.55LS 2WD

I was wondering since it's been pretty bad here snow wise and all these cars are kinda burried in snow from the snow plows. I was wondering if I would be able to pull them out in my truck? I know it's a 2wd and I do have two hooks in front, but how capable is my truck when it comes to pulling people out?? Any help would be great!!

Having the same truck I would say the likley hood isn't that great. If you could get it on just wet pavement I would think you have a shot but, not on snow.

Congrats on the new truck.

If all the cars need is a little assistance to get out of the snowbank that was plowed around them, then I would think you should be able to help them out. Tires are also going to make quite a difference on how soon they break free. Let us know how it goes.

I also have another question about my truck.....I have tow hooks that came with my truck obviously. What are the tow hooks used for on my truck since it's 2wd? I didn't get 4x4 since theres no need for me to have it in Cleveland Ohio and this truck went through 15 inches of snow just before x-mas without skipping a beat!! This truck handles extreamly good in snow and couldn't ask for much better! Just wondering also what the tow hooks are usually used for?

Traction is your friend. If you have good traction you probably can with a 4x2. If you have poor traction a 4x4 may not even be able to pull them out.

No use for 4WD in Cleveland?? Wow, I have been there many times in snow storms, the freeways were a mess. 4WD is needed on the freeways over to Erie.

I have played in deep snow without the 4wd turned on, the LS is great.

I'd only help family and close friends. Not to be a jerk, but it only takes one slip to really screw up someone's vehicle, or worse, your own. They could easily sue you for the damage to their vehicle. It's too bad it's like that, but reality is what it is.

I sure as heck can use my 4x4 traction here in Cleveland, and if you can't pull them out I'm sure I could.

You must know of the snow storm we had a few days before x-mas then? 15 to 18 inches or so? Never was I scared t otake my truck out, it plowed through my driveway almost pushing snow up to the hood getting to the street!! Maybe once a year if that theres a need for 4x4 in cleveland. I have yet needed 4x4 in Cleveland for the past 25 years!

You must never have to tow anything and trudge through any wet grass, or mud. There are countless times where 4 wheel drive has prevented me from getting stuck , or saving me time maneuvering around when I'm not on pavement. Not to mention it's a must have for plowing.

Your right, I don't tow anything. I don't have anything to tow. I know you need 4x4 to plow but I would never want to plow anythign and beat the brap out of my truck, so that would never be an option for me to have. I have a great time in my truck and love it, and 2wd with the LS got me through anything I put it through so far!

I remember when a guy was stuck in about foot of ice water by a lake ( where they hold ice car racing and the ice was melting). Pulled up to him and he asked me to pull him back back up on solid ground. ( I have no idea how this guy got in such a rut, this guy was really stuck) He said he had chains in his mini van (GM Astro Safari) so he hooked it up to my tow hooks in the front and he tied it around his bumper?? I leaned out the window and said "thats not a good idea" He said I don't care pull me out. Well I gently pulled the van and then all of a sudden his bumper flew off! It just curled right out. He shouts out to me "ripped it off" I said okay! I yanked it right off. I managed to get the guy back up on solid ground

so, it snows once a year , big deal. In Alberta there is snow on the ground 5-6 months a year and you can get by without 4wd just fine.

don't get me wrong 4wd is sweet, and it makes things easier, but you don't technically "need" it.

have you ever heard the saying " 4wd's get stuck just like 2wd's , but just further from the road"
