fellow reg cab owners...

I've got a cap on my truck; its front sliding window is removable for cleaning the cab's window. Anyway, I've been chasing rattles in the thing for quite some time. Got them all taken care of except for one. Always sounded like it was coming from right behind the pass seat. One of those things that would never rattle when I was looking for it. Well yesterday, it did it while I was idling in the morning, so I got out to try to pin it down from the outside.

From the drivers seat, it sounded like it was coming from the bottom of the cab's rear window, but I finally found it.

The tire jack in the pass side back door pillar.

It doesn't sound like it's coming from anywhere near the jack, unless you take the trim cover panel off.

Us Reg'ers are in the minority here, and our jack storage is totally different than everybody else's. So for what it's worth, you may want to put a little cushioning in there.

inbred,

Yes, we're the minority here. Hey, as a fellow regular cab owner, how do you like the visibility out of your truck - partiularly out the passenger side? I really love my '05 overall, but the visibility out of the cab is a step in the wrong direction due to the shorter door and new B pillar arrangement. The head rest also blocks the quarter window pretty effectively. What's your experience?

LOL... its funny how I was searching down the same rattle.... I posistioned my sub right there and it rattled like crazy. I always thought it was something in the door to but never could pin point it untill I took my jack out to use it when I was installing my autospring and when i pout it back in I just kinda shoved it all in there cuz I was a little tired and I noticed the next day the rattle was gone!!! As for the visibility I too had some trouble on both sides but I fine now that I got some of those little mirrors from wal-mart.... easy solution!

I had the same noise two days into ownership. I took it out, put
some rags in under behind and around it, put it all back together,
nice and quiet. I will probably never use it anyway 'cuz I carry an
awesome baby hydraulic one in a cool little carry case behind my
driver seat. The factory ones are way too time consuming, get it
done and lets move on is my theory. Once and only once I was
forced to try and change a tire on the road with an oem jack. I
bought my new one the very next day...

Yeah, I fixxed the jack rattle. I just extended the jack to where it wedged itself against both sides of the cubby hole... this stopped the rattle.

I also have a another rattle that comes from right in the middle of the back of the cab at floor level. The plastic panel that covers the back of the cab ratles against somthing.... only rattles sometims though, and its not too bad...

As far as the passengers side headrest, I just lean the seat all the way back when nobody is riding in the truck. Then it doesnt block anything.

Do you reg cabbers have the "vibe"? I was wondering since I'm paying off the L next month and need to replace my daily driver Cavalier. I want to go BIG again. Thanks in advance.

So far (1,600 miles) all is perfect. No jack rattle either.

Thumbs up

No problems whatsoever. This IS the best truck I've ever owned. Had a beautiful 2000 150 Scab with zero defects or problems in 80000 mi. before this one. I never used the rear seat, so I went for the reg. cab this time. I love the look of this truck. Apparently oher people do too. I get thumbs up all the time....even from Chevy drivers!

As far as the visibility goes, I don't have any problems with it, but I've been driving it for almost a year now. I drove my friend's 250 diesel the other week, and did notice how huge the side window was, but never felt any shortcomings in mine. You get used to it after a while (at least I did).

No 'vibe', but I do have a whining rear end. A new one is supposed to be here 'any day now'

NO vibe and I don't have any problem with the blind spots. Plenty of room for groceries and luggage behind the seat. Got the cargo organizer from Ford and it has been very handy keeping stuff in place.

I have not heard the rattle yet, but if I do I will know where to look.

Thanks for the tip.

No rattle, even after having removed and replaced several times. I must be seeing the same drivers as BIGBLUE_WA. This is the best vehicle I've ever owned and that includes my first car - a '58 T-Bird.

My 04 FX4 has been great so far. 1300 miles and I'm lovin it.

Anyone know if Ford make a gargo organizer that fits with the Audiophile sub behind the driver's seat? I would like to be able to use the space a little more effectively and if I can't find one I'll need to build my own.
