tilt wheel lever fell off :(

came home tonight and the tilt wheel mechanism seemed hard to move, then it just came right out! i looked at the steering column and it seems it just fits into a groove? hard to see at night. anyone else have this happen? easy fix? i have a couple thousand miles before the next oil change....figured i would get it done then and also get the vibration in the ashtray looked at. any thoughts???? thanks as usual, your f150 newbie! LOL

Sorry to hear that jim...

To me, it sounds like one of those isolated incidents that will occur with any mass-production vehicle. I can't recall ever seeing anything along these lines while on the boards honestly...

I'm not sure how that mechanism works but, I'd suspect that'd it be a fairly simple fix for a tech. Please let us know how it goes!

Same exact thing happened to me a few months ago. Took it into the dealer and they fixed it on the spot. Couple days later it fell off again. Took it back and this time the stealer says something about Ford having problems with the clip that secures the lever. No immediate fix. Shortly thereafter I moved to the sorry as*state of MD where they don't believe in loaner cars. Since they won't give me a loaner, I won't drop it off. It is my only source of transportation and I'm not leaving it without something in return. To this day I still don't have it fixed, along with the bubbles in the paint on my r/r quarterpanel.

just got back from the dealer.....they fixed it for me and i had them check into the ashtray rattle also. new ashtray on order. i don't know the exact fix but it works now....will let you know if it does it again. why can't they just use the wand/stalk as opposed to the clamp style? my sable and my cavaleir have that....

I've never heard of this happening until I read this. I'm sure it's just a couple of isolated incidents that can happen with any vehicle front time to time. Hope you get it fixed and it never happens again.
