Superchips on 89 octane stuff??

Anyone know if it causes any problems to run the 89 Octane gas with the 1714? I was thinking about getting a tuner, but at the moment here in NE, the 89 Octane Gas is the cheapest. Would the 87 tune still work?

To answer the question a big NO it will not cause a problem.Just don't try going the other way and program for 91 and run 87.

For a little more money, you could get someone like Troyer Performance to load three custom tunes on a Super Chips Excalibrator that would be more specific to your driving habits, the octane rating you want to use etc. I wish that I would have waited on it to come out instead of getting the 1714. If you poke around in the cumputer chips forums, you will see some of the posative remarks about it...Kevin

I have done alot of research on the two models and the Excalibrator is the way to go.

Talking Got Mine!

My Excalibrator arrived last week. Mike was great as I had previously had the Stage I tune and had to go back to stock before Mike could do the tunes. He needed the current factory tune before building mine. If you go this way and feel you may want to change in the future then get the cable to upload tunes from e-mail to the Excalibrator. Mike can cut new tunes or changes for you at a nominal charge.

The key to your performance is the tuning (by Mike Troyer) and the tool to get it to your PCM is the Excalibrator.

Happy Troyer Performance Tune customer!
