Looking to Purchase.. Need some help..
Hey Guys,
I am looking to buy a 2004 and need some opinions..
This is going to be my dailey driver so is the 4.6 and 5.4 a bigg diffrence?
What Price am I looking at for a 5.4 with leather interior and 4 doors? I could go with Cloth but would prefer leather..
Any chance I could keep my Monthly payment under 450 with those options? I am also in Dallas Texas.

What you may want to do is go to the Ford website and search for inventory of new 2004's. Find the truck(s) you want and get the invoice price for the truck at KBB, Edmunds etc. This late in the model year you should pay no more than invoice less all of the rebates.
As far a which motor, drive one of each. Everyone has a different opinion of how much power is needed.

You might be able to get a new 2wd 4.6L with leather truck for around that price depending upon other options...
I don't think you can get leather with the 4.6.
4.6 is only available in the XL and XLT
If you want the 4.6 you could get an XLT 4x2 with very few options, tow package, reverse sensing, keypad for a MSRP of $29,000 minus $4,000 to get ot invoice, minus $4,000 of rebates for a total of $21,000. If you have a trade in or down payment of $5,000 you could finance $16,000. At 4% interest this is less than $350 per month.
Then again you could go full blown with a Lariat 4x4 SCREW and max out the options on an '05 and pay 42,000.... Have you sat in a King Ranch yet?

I would go with the 5.4. Personally, I don't think that the fuel mileage on the 4.6 is that much better. I have a 2004, 5.4L, 4x4, Screw Lariat loaded, 3.73 LS diff. and I average around 14 mpg everyday miles. I do get a little over 16 mpg cruzin 80 mph on the highway. Definitely drive both before you buy.
I did some quick number crunching and this is about where you'll have to be for a $450.00 payment.
If you finance: $24,500 For 60 months at 3.9% you'll be close to $450.00
If you finance: $27,225 For 72 months at 5.9% you'll be close to $450.00
Honestly, I think your going to be hard pressed to find a new 4 door truck with leather and still fit within the payment you want. You might get close.
Good Luck,
Jeffery

Traeb,
Don't go to the dealer, but do your haggling over the internet.
Find some dealers in your area and tell them what you're looking for. Tell them what price you want to pay and that you're aware
of all the rebates. Shoot for a price below invoice. You might get it, depending on if the dealer is ready to move the vehicle. You can haggle as long as you want over the internet and there is
no stress or waste of fuel while sitting in the comfort of your own
home. The dealers will be very competitive if you let them know
you are also talking to other dealers. Don't be shy about asking
for your price. There are loads of these trucks sitting on lots and they want to move them. Don't get in a hurry. Most of the dealers will say they can't get the price you want only to email you 1 hour later and meet that price. I paid $500 more than I should have on my truck by being impatient. If I had waited another 30 minutes I could have gotten the same truck for $500 less. ONce you have gotten the price you want, tell them to wash it and fill'er up with gas you're on the way. Sign the papers and enjoy.

I hope you find the deal you want..good luck. I would also suggest that you give the truck you find a LENGTHY test drive before signing anything! There are serious issues with some of these trucks that you don't want to get stuck with. Read through the threads here on this site and educate yourself on the various problems with these trucks so you'll know what to look for when test driving. Just my .02.
