Massive orange peel paint job

I noticed that my newly painted fender reflected much better than the rest of the truck. As i looked closer, i noticed that the fender painted by the dealer had NO orange peel where the rest of the truck is so bad that the reflections look blurry. Wondering if there is anything that can be done, short of spraying another layer of clear.

To get rid of the orange peel they would have to wet sand the truck smooth. Then buff.

Maybe.

It depends on if the peel (which is generally caused by paint run) is on the color coat or the clear coat.

If it's color, it's a new paint job. If it's clear, they may be able to do it...

Even better question, if my auto insurance covered a deer hit and fender/bumper was repainted, would insurance cover wet sand/polish if the fender didn't match the rest of truck due to orange peel.

Nope! Your policy pays to repair the damage. Spent 31+ years explaining this kind of stuff to policyholders.

And if the paint doesn't match, they must do something about it.

Not on first party coverage in most states.
