Need help with removing stereo cover
Sorry if this is out there somewhere. Can someone tell me how to remove the cover surrounding the radio (so I can replace the radio)? I want the instructions for the bench seat, not the floor console which is slightly different. Maybe almost exact same procedure though, I don't know. I popped out the snaps on the bottom by the ash tray, but I'm afraid to put a lot of pressure on it to remove the cover. I don't want to break it.
Also, is the radio wiring harness about 2" wide by 1/2" ? I have the kit that you use to plug directly into the factory harness, but I need to cut the other end off that will be connected to the new stereo. I want to make sure I cut off the right end. I know I can buy yet another adapter to hook it up to the new Sony stereo, but with a tad of soldering I'll be all done and it's not worth the extra $18 to me.
I found these instructions, but it's for the floor console. I want to make sure it's the same for the bench seat trucks so I don't pull on it too hard and break it if I need to really be pulling somewhere else. Thanks

start at the bottom and work your way up slowly. They will pop out. It seems like you will snap it in half, but they will pop out. They are very tight & felt lined to stay rattle proof. Then unplug the pass airbag light, and the whole thing will be loose. Just make sure to plug the pass airbag light back in, or your airbag light on your dash will flash forever.
Just give it a tug... if feels like its gonna break but it doesnt(at least it hasnt for me). What I do is grab from the bottom like you did and pop it out and squeeze my fingers in and pop the rest out the little pins out.
I found mine was easier to remove by starting at the top and working down, rather than vice-versa. I used a wooden paint mixing stick as a pry bar. Almost broke the stick before coming loose. The cover's really in there! I put a light coat of silicone lube on the cover's pins when I reinstalled it, hoping next time it will come loose more easily.
Good luck,

Ok, I got it installed - very easy. But I already miss my steering wheel controls...LOL Also, the screen on this thing is rather bright. I wish I could dim it. I would rather it be green than blue also. Oh well, maybe next time.
P.S. I hate the nasty salt on the roads. Makes the truck a mess. It'll be like this for a few weeks until it melts off enough so it's not running out in the roads.

I DID have them on until they got broke 2 days ago in the deep snow/ice. I ordered a new set. Still though, the salt spray gets all over. It did even with the mud flaps.
