dezerit, any luck with your B pillar rattle?

hey dzervit, any luck with the "B" pillar rattle. I had the dealer pull the plastic molding on the "B" pillar and they said it was defective, the double stick tape was only sticking on one side? so they ordered new molding and a week and half later replaced it. At first it seemed better but now it's back , it's intermittent, some times it doesnt rattle at all and other times you can be driving on an absolutely smooth road and it's just rattling away. Seems to be coming from the top part of the b pillar. Any input, Thanks

My solution is this (although I haven't done it yet due to the friggen ice age that have set it): Dynamat Xtreme behind it. It completely silenced the doors and they feel like a Lexus when you close them. Solid. Ultimately I plan to cover the entire interior with this stuff. I'd bet a paycheck that the dynamat will solve the issue for good. Head over to your local audio shop and discuss if you don't want to DIY.

I'm not all that familiar with Dynamat Xtreme. Got any pics? Did a bit of googling and seems to be a cool product with many different applications.

I have no pics of my install or the product. You can check it out at dynamat.com. I'm also thinking about the hood kit. I want this truck ULTRA quiet... just like my Lincoln LS used to be.

I purchased from http://store.yahoo.com/etronicsnet/dyn10455.html and was pleased. However, they jacked up the price, I only paid $129. The Bulk pack is perfect for custom DIY jobs. I think it's going to take about 3 packs or so to completely cover the interior.

Dynamat Xtreme rules!! The only downside is I need 50/60 degree weather to complete my handle/bucket painting and dynamat project.

Even if it drops it a mear 3db, it's worth it to me. Plus, it pretty much eliminates all rattles & squeeks. Once the good stereo goes in it will make it REALLY worth while. Again, my goal is a Lexus-quiet truck.

Why pay big bucks for the "dynomat" name. Head down to your local Home Depot and buy it for 7.99 a roll. (its in the roofing section and is call gutter sealer) I did all 4 doors with 2 rolls (6inch x 25 ft) If your real ****, take a permanet marker and write dynomat on it, cause it looks exactly the same and performs as such

The stuff really does work. I used some in my doors when I up-graded my speakers; fortunately, I don’t have door pillar rattle.

Dynamat Xtreme bulk $115.00

thanks the for link JP!

Todd - while that is a low-cost alternative, I prefer not to have my truck smell like roofing tar during the summer nor add 500 pounds onto my trucks already hefty weight. Use the right tool for the job, that's what pops always used to say...

This stuff does not smell like "roofing" tar, nor does it weigh anymore then dynamat does. Using this stuff is about the same as going to the drug store and getting the generic equivalent of your presciption. yeah there is other roofing stuff that might fit your description however.
My pop use to say "theres a sucker born every minute"

D- That last post was uncalled for. Posts like that destroy your credibility. 2 rolls of gutter flashing at $8 a roll sounds a lot better than $159 worth of ultra-markup 'soundproofing'. 500 pounds? Get real.

Todd- Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out tomorrow. I also wanted to hit the auto parts store and buy some of the aerosol rustproofing goopy sticky crap to spray on the underside of the cab since road noise is pretty loud over 60 mph. I think spraying the underside will be easier than trying to gut the interior and install padding under the carpet. Like D, I'm looking for quiet. If I had the money for a Lexus, I'd buy a Lexus or perhaps the Dynomat. But I'm a Home Depot kind of guy.

Rocky, I have no credibilty around here. It's an anonymous Internet forum for pete's sake. I'm not tyring to build respect or credit here - just post my random, pointless thoughts.

Unless it's changed in recent years, roofing material is still stinkier & heavier. They stink in hot weather. It also weighs more than dynamat xtreme. Original dynamat is heavy and compares better weight-wise to roofing materials. I'd be happy to check it out, though... I can't find anything at homedepot..com. got a link or product/manufacture name?
