How much of a drop for the hitch ball

I got a 4x4 lariat and I was wondering what everybody is running as far as hitch ball drop for their trailers. I have a 2 place open snowmobile trailer and I have a single axle 19 foot boat trailer.

My last vehicle was a chevy astro AWD and I had a 2" drop turned upside down for a 2" rise. (it was not enough)

Thanks!!!

I'd set it up to where the hitch ball is about 18" off the ground when everything is hooked up. This is the typical height of most trailers. If your trailer is not level then you might adjust it from there, but most average trailers made to industry standards will ride about 18" high.

Whatever it takes to make your trailer run level. This you will have to find out for yourself because not all trailers ride at the same heighth. Use your old hitch and ball with your trailer, see if it rides level, if not figure how much difference you need then buy a new one.

I have a 3 inch drop with no lift in the truck. But 4 inch would work better.

Mines a 6" drop on an FX4 pulling a 12' tandom axle trailor. The level is perfect for mine. Check out this lockable hitch by DP!

Despite what everybody says, there is no 'standard' trailer height. The only way to see what you need is to measure your trailer tongues when sitting level.

If I had an 18" ball height, the back end of my boat would be close to scraping the ground...

I used a 2" drop when I pulled my Cobra with the new 4 x 4 and it actually set pretty level. I guess it depends a lot of what your tongue weight is.
HAPPY HOLIDAYS ALL !!!!!
