Thumbs up

The crossovers are mounted on the outer wall of the door, directly behind the 6.5's. They've been stuck there with grey 3M body moulding tape for about 2 years or so. Never had a problem with them overheating or coming loose.,,,,98

Be sure to wipe the door skin down well with alcohol, if you do it that way.

What a fool I am. I was so worried about a crossover and component speakers. I finally got around to taking the cover off the front door, with just my hands. I had a hole were I thought the tweeter was. Turns out I had a pair of cheap 2 ways in the door. Oh well... I went to best buy and bought a pair of rockford two ways.

What a difference in sound. I was worrying for nothing. The instalation was a breeze. Cut off the clip got the color diagram from the forum and a few splices later....much better sound.

My radio has a high power filter. Should I have it set to 80 50 or off? I took everybody advice and faded down the rear speakers. I will probably leave the stock ones in.

Thanks for all the help you guys are great.

I just have to wait for the xm to be installed next week. Will post pics.

I think you mean a high PASS filter. Meaning you can set it where no low end signal goes to your speakers. Unless you have subs you need to leave it at FLAT or off. If you turn the HPF on and dont have subs you will be missing all the bass from the music you play.

As for the 3rd brake light thing...thats where I have my XM ant too. Infact I have had one there in my last 3 trucks and have never had any problem.

I have my Pioneer XM reciever mounted behind my rear seat:

As for the front and rear speakers...I found the rear speakers to be very important. They really import sound "fillers". I would never just fade them out. Here are the speakers I went with:

Alpine Componets in front:

Pioneer 3ways in the back:

Thanks Ram I will go to best buy and pick up the rear speakers.

I just sat in the truck with the hpf off and man did that sound better. I have a bazooka tube for bass. Not bad but my old truck was better with a center mounted 12 inch. The bass from the bazooka actually hurts my left ear.

Thanks for the post it was awesome I will tellthe guys at Island Auto Accessories to mount it there with the antenna in the brake light, or under cowl. Lets see what they say. i will post pics as soon as the xm is installed. So far they have done great work. two trucks now. Here is a pic of my sub.

What size tube is that? Looking at sub options myself. The stock has very little bass for me.

It is an amplified 8" bazooka. One word of warning unlike my last sub that was pointed at the center of the seat back. regular cab 2000. This sub points at the left side of the door and I can swear that my left ear hurts when I get out of the truck.

Pretty cool. I might have to look into that for myself when I upgrade my system. Still recovering from my huge spending on my head unit.

SCUBA...well I got here a little late but im glad you replaced the door speakers and are plannig on doing the rears also. Why the guy told you your stock ones are fine is beyond me. The rear panels are easy to get off and replacing the speakers is a breeze.

As far as the XM goes, I just put it on my truck the other day. The tuner is behind the radio. Just have them wire tie it up back there and its out of the way. Also the antenna is going under the wiper cowl. A few guys have it there and have NO problems at all. right now mine is on my dash, I just wanted to make sure I got good reception with it there. Its fine. Im gonna move it tomorrow. I personally like the antenna hidden, keeps the truck clean looking plus its not right out in the open for anyone to mess with it. (just in case). Good luck.

Thanks brewdude. I will probably go under the cowl as well. Hope they pass the wire easy enough. Nice truck.

Im looking for a little more bass and I think Im going to do 1 or maybe even 2 Bazooka Bass Tubes under the backseat, but are all of the 8" Bazooka Bass Tubes the same size? What would I need to hook them both up to my Eclipse AVN5435? I really have no clue about stereo equipment but Im trying to learn. Can someone help me out?
