Ok kamikaze, here you go:

First, this is a crappy pic of the removed OEM arm with the little key still in the lower LH corner of the arm splined area:

Next is with the little key removed laying on the hood:

The new stop point for the blade after you re-index and reinstall the arm as outlined:

I also installed a set of the PIAA silicone wiper blades,,NO STREAKS!
Hope this helps you.
Yob

Thanks for the pics yob, I appreciate it. I wonder why Ford doesn't just do that from the factory..? Could there be any problems caused by removing they key?

Merry Christmas! And congrats on a new governor!

Since 1976 I have had a Mustang GT, Focus, Escape, 2 Explorers, and 5 F-150's. The 04 is the only one thats had the key. Guess it's there to help the mechanically challenged reinstall their wiper arm. Yes the PIAA silicone's are my choice. Refills sold on Moss Motors are exact fit. Happy Holidays to all:santa:

Just curious...what size blades are you guys running?...20 or 22"
I just put on a pair of 22" Silblades. So far they are flawless.
Size really does matter...

I went with 21" blades. I tried 22" but after about a week I swapped for the 21" mainly because when mine were in the park position the passenger side blade tip wasnt even touching the glass. Of course thats before reindexing so now it mite be better.

Wow! I am amazed at how easy this was. The rain started coming down pretty hard today, so I thought I would give it a try. MUUUUUUCH better. And, it took all of 2 minutes to complete.

DrPaul,
Just open your mind and read it again, it will eventually make sense to you.

No DrP,
chuck the key in the trash or the bottom of your junk drawer as you dont need it. Splines on the shaft and arm will take all the touque, as they have since Henry Fords day. The key is only for idiot proofing alignment.

Turn the wipers on for a second and see if they wipe where you want them to wipe. Or did we forget why we wanted to move the wiper arm in the first place?
