I have the hypertech and I'm looking to sell it. Then I'm gonna order the custom programmer for Mike Troyer for all the mods on my truck.

i had the hyperteck for a year just got rid of it for the 9100 custom tune from mick, did some other mods at the time so i dont really know how much of a difrence the tuner made but i would go with any tuner from troyer performance they are awsome

The X-thingy is a truely custom tune. Few more HP and flexibilty. On the downside, it cannot read the error codes like the 1714 can. If your not going to mess with your truck on other engine mods, the 1714 is the way to go (or if your really want that few extra HP).

Could someone please explain the difference between the xcalibrator and sct6600? I will be ordering a 05 and want to get my mods on as soon as possible. I will be adding an airaid intake and magnaflow si/do.

If your gona get a 2005 F-150 then the SCT 6600 won't work on it. Best to ask Mike Troyer on your particular situation. But I do believe the Xcalibrator can work on the same vehicles the 6600 can, just not the 2004/5 F-150's.

Mike, join in here and explain please.

I was a bit concerned about the ability to read error codes. But after weighing what the 9300 could do I decided to go with it and a scangauge. Happy with this so far...

Let me weigh in on the Xcalibrator. It gives you 3 custom tunes specifically for your trucks PCM code. It will provide a larger hp and torque gain over the 1714 (approximately 50% more) It’s tuned to match the octane rating you will be using (93-octane in my case) You can tweak the tuner (tire size, gear change, etc, etc) at any time via an email attachment sent by Mike. I’ve heard NOTHING bad at all about the 1714 but I went with the Xcalibrator because I figure this heavy truck needs as much hp as it can get. As far as reading codes goes, the Scan Gauge does look nice.
