Line-X or leave bare...then Line-X when it gets bad?

I've been thinking of having my bed Line-X'ed. But then again, what would be the difference if I were just to use and abuse the unprotected/painted bed...THEN just Line-X it if/when it gets really bad? If anything, just leave it as is and just Line-X it if I were to sell the truck and keep the $450 in my pocket until then.

Thoughts?

If you are going to do it one way or another, I vote for spending the money now and enjoying the nice spray in liner for yourself. I had mine done with Line X and really do like it.

Besides, why spend the money later when you go to sell it, as someone is probably going to buy your truck regardless of the condition of the paint in the bed.

Line-X will protect the bed much better then stock when it comes to dents and dings.

I'm not rough on my truck, so I'm going with the LineX when it gets more scratched. I have a cover and bed mat already anyway. Won't bother me to leave it bare for now. I just don't want them sanding on a new truck already

The linex is great. Especially if you use the truck. Aside from the great protection and good look, it has traction like hell. One good scratch in the bed of your truck and you will want the linex so it always looks new.

Just get a bedliner then if you feel the need to waste money when you sell the truck get it sprayed with a liner.
The bedliner will protect better against dents than line x or rhino.

ever seen the condition of a bed after you pull the liner off? Nasty rusted and scratched all to hell and back. I have a spray on bedliner and I love it. Not only does it keep the bed from rusting but is helps avoid dents in the bed. I have to scrape some off to remove the bed mounting bolts when I did my body lift and the paint was liek new underneath ( except the scratches I put in it scraping i off. Then when i was done, I went to walmart and bought a can of it for like 10 bucks and re-sprayed it on the areas I had to scrape. This time of coarse I taped off the bed mounting bolts.

Nope, can't say as I have. Never had a need to pull a bedliner out of a truck unless the truck was in the junkyard, and at that point no one really cares about a little paint rubbing. IMHO it's much better than having a bed beat all to hell from not having a bedliner in it.

My 10 year old Ranger never had a bedliner and it shows. The truck would be worth more today if it had a bedliner in it all those years, regardless of a little rubbing. The rubbing would be better than the current scratches, scrapes and dings.

Anyone who uses their pickup for more than hauling groceries isn't going to worry about a bedliner rubbing. It's irrellevent. I'm embarrassed to be participating in this conversation. :o

I have a Line-X and think that they did a great job with it. Agree with the traction as well. I have never been a fan of drop in liners but to each their own.

I would put a bedmat in it and forget it. You'll spend less than $100 and it will solve the slippery surface and dented bed floor/scratch problem. I had one in my last truck which was a 94 with 190,000. There was no rust underneath the mat and the only scratches I had were on the wheel wells.

Well if your wiling to do a little work yourself, you can buy the spray on bedliner yourself. works just as good and yoll spend alot less than 100 bucks to do it.not really all that hard.

And BTW Rocky, I didnt suggest not doing anything. I think plastic bedliners are a waste of money. A bedliner to me isnt for looks, its for protection. I am not just worried about what it looks like on top, I want to know that its protected undeneath the liner as well.
