Um... I was just hoping someone had the install instructions. I would not let anyone around here touch my truck. I am sure that there are reputable installers in my area, but it's just not worth the risk.

Damn, I f_ck_n' hate when people do this crap, especially when they misinterpret a question. Let me make this simple. Does the "tech PDF file" also contain install instructions?

Yes it does, It contains the install instructions for every ford made since 2002, along with every possible combo eg; remote/security, keyless/ remote, keyless/remote/security etc...

its about 400 pages worth of pdf file. Heres one of the threads that pops up if you type the keywords "gold pdf" in that wonderfull search function

Heres kinda a FAQ for a 2004 f150 gold system:

The door keypad can be used to unlock the doors and turn the alarm off and lock and arm the system

The alarm goes off if you arm it with the windows open and someone reaches in and uses the armrest unlock to try to open the truck

Run time can be set to either 10 OR 15 min.

You can have it installed to turn your headlights on for 30 sec., in say a dark place by just holding the lock button down for a few seconds.

Although the manual says 500ft range, most people can get 1000 plus foot range out of the system

If the trucks running, you can push the remote start button and remove the key and it will stay running (handy for quick trips into the store) You can lock the doors also and arm the alarm if needed Your truck is perfeclty safe however, theres no way to steal it since pushing the brake shuts it off, you cant shift or turn the steering without the key in it.

You can have it installed to open the drivers door with the first unlock and passenger with the second push or open all doors with one push of the unlock button

You can program it to remote start after hitting the lock then start button, Or, one touch start hitting just the start button.

You can program it to lock the doors after starting (good idea with the one button start)

You can have your heated mirrors come on with the remote start

You can have either horn or siren or both together sound, as part of the alarm.

It has a car finder option by hitting the remote, It honks 5 times (louder each time, good for those that misplace there truck in a parking lot..hehehehe)

The original fobs will still lock/unlock the door.

You do NOT need an extra key stashed in the truck like aftermarket sytems, this one has a pats bypass module for the remote start part

There are a few other options also, That I havent mentioned

Sorry to regurgitate such an old thread... but...

I just had a Gold kit installed in my 04 Lariat. It took them several tries, but they have installed it mostly right now. The only thing that doesn't work is that the door keypad sets off the alarm.

Looking through some of the wiring diagrams, can someone verify which wires that I need to get the dealership to connect? Is it the "driver door unlock output"?? I can't find anything in the wiring diagram that directly refers to the driver's door keypad (or anything similar).

My dealer is hopelessly confused as to how to complete the install, and I just want to see if I can help them along to get this thing working! Thanks for the help.

ok i have to chime in here, i have been installing the Ford rmst systems for about 3 years now, both the first and second generation systems. and reading this post has reinforced a lot of these dealers don't know jack about installing our own product.

so let me help

the key pad with disarm the alarm system, in the 24 way harness pin A-12 LT/GREEN unlock sense must be connected to the pink/orange wire in the driverside pass rear door harness.

and in the system programing Option bank 5 - sub option 2 must be set to positive

Plus pins A-9 & A-11 must be hooked up, it sounds to me that your dealers are a) not installing the product correctly or b) or not bothering with the correct programing.

the shock sensor is built in to the main module of our system and it is a very sensitive and has a lot of adjustment to it for lite shock and full shock settings have your dealer tailor it to your needs.

i have gold in my FX4 and my trucks works like the factory intended it to, and i must have donzens if not in to the hundreds of ford vehicles out there that i have put gold systems in to and they work great.

Mac.

Thanks Mac!

I think that's the info I need...

Yeah, the dealership installer is a joke. It took them three visits (4 full days) to get the Gold system installed! No question that somewhere inside the Ford hierarchy, there has been a real lack of communication on how to get these systems installed. It's too bad, because they're a great feature to add to the 04 trucks.

Basically I'm very happy with it so far and I think your directions will help me get them to finish the install. Thanks again.

Which is a better unit, the ford gold or the code alarm system, or are they the same thing?

I do the rear view mirrors, compass mirrors with homelink built in, remote starts, cruise controls, hitches, tonneau covers, running boards, well you get the idea. I install all Ford only branded accessories. I will say that I too have been doing the old and new systems for the last three years. I can do a silver in an F150 in about 45 minutes. No problems and everything hooked up. I can do it in a shorter amount of time, but I dont like to.

So how much do these things run without the install??? I had never heard of them until I read this thread.

As far as install goes, my dad is a 20 year mechanic who recently became the shop foreman (all at the same Ford dealership), so I will just take my truck in after work one night and install it.

You've had better luck than me, I have to go back to my dealer in Riverside, CA for the 6th time (sixth time).

Kinda getting fed up of going there . . . . . Fritts Ford, not the most knowledgeable people around to say the least.
