Powerwindows on a STX

why cant people just ask a simple question without being bombarded with rude comments or someone elses opinion, not everybody has to drive a 30 or 40 thousand dollar truck, I bought mine for just that its a truck not a lincoln, so yes i have rubber floors but I can easy soap and water mine clean and they look new can your carpet be done that way, and when your electric windows die and you dont have anymore warranty left, Ill still be able to just reach over and turn my window crank! I just think people need to think about there responses to posts!

I have a blazing yellow SC flairside STX and guess what Ford didn't build that with
any other trim option (in 2WD) I would have bought it as an XLT or Lariat if Ford had offered it. The only thing I don't like with my truck is no power windows and no remote mirrors everything else is awesome. For maybe a $500-1000 total investment to do those upgrades, to me that is nothing.
The second thing is that you said it would look odd, I would of course replace the doorpanels with the xlt panels. the cranks will be all gone!

This might be easier and cheaper than trying to get all the factory stuff

And for $250 and a couple of hours of your time, you can install an aftermarket power window kit. $60 for door locks.
Seems to me I've saved alot of money over an XLT.

STX doesn't come standard with carpets, but a package with SRW, Carpets, fog lights and something else that escapes me, is very common. Most have it, at least here in Southern California.
A lot of them are also upgraded to the Michelin tires.
By the way, the A1electric windows look nice, but the Colibri windows cost less than 1/2 of the OEM style.
Power door locks with Keyless entry shouldn't set you back more than 60 bucks, tops. And these things are pretty easy to add to a STX.
Which means for a heck of a lot less money I have all the extras I wanted on my truck.

P.S.
Just for STX owners;
Cruise controls are as little as 50 bucks on E-bay right now. With 60-85 bucks to program it. Easyest up grade I have done!

I think aftermarket would be the way to go. The OEM would be a very expensive and time consuming effort. The kit is $239.95 with free shipping plus $40-60 for the switch kit. Cut and paste the link below and it goes straight to your application.

Hi 04~4X4~XL ;
Colibri power window kits are a lot like the SPAL kits, they are for sale from
http://www.accesscnc.com/
http://www.a1electric.com/
and many other vendors. They are not OEM style, but the kind that use your crank spline to run the windows up and down. They are slightly slower than the fastest OEMs, but much faster than hand cranking!
The new model truck is 8 turns to raise or lower, instead of the average 6 which is why they are slightly slower to raise or lower.
So anyway, I installed Colibri windows in my STX, and am completely satisfied. Well, almost, now I'm going to put an instant down module on the drivers side... But that's just becase I go into withdrawl if I don't mod the truck every few days.
If your pulling the door panels to put in door locks, you might as well add the windows. With switches it's about 105-155 depending on where you buy, and which switches you get.
If you put in power door locks, forget about the 'autolock' ones that slave each lock to each other. Get Keyless entry. Crimestoppers is an easy to install one. Cost me under 60 bucks to install keyless entry with key on-off autolock. I have since added power tailgate locking to that, for about 10 more dollars, then most recently Power tonneau locking/unlocking, using the trunk button on my remotes, cost under 10 more bucks. Beats the heck out of using keys.

Hey Chris thanks for all the info, OK stupid question, which type of door lock system do our trucks have cable or no? and it looks like the colibri is a universal window kit, also where did you mount your switches? any pics would be appreciated.
Thanks again

I bought an 05 STX, it came with no carpet and tilt/cruise, fog lamps and the michelin tires and xlt wheels. The dealer had installed an alarm the will open the drivers side door remotely. But not the passegener side door. I figure I have power door locks on half the truck and a twelve year old son for the other half. Not bad for $18500.oo
