Door Edge Protector Molding
Door Edge Protector Molding
Does anyone know where I can find that black 1/4" molding that would run down all four door edges? You know, when I open the door I don't ding up this beautiful truck!
I don't know if Ford makes the stainless steel moldings in black but the stainless steel ones by Ford are great. And they look good. They go on easy but stay on. Unlike plastic ones it would take a lot to dent or scratch the steel ones.
After looking at the above posted link, Ford does make them in black. I love the steel ones.

I know Stylin Concepts has the black door edge molding for them. I ordered a set of chrome for my dad's 04 and they cost $40 plus shipping. Don't know if black is any cheaper

Door edge guards (black) were the very first mod on my '99 and they are holding up great.
I bought a 25' coil from PepBoys. The brand is Plastigard, made by CrilaPlastic Industries, part number PG432501. I've used it on all my new vehicles since and still have about 4' left.
There is a bead of gummy adhesive inside the door edge guard that sticks to the door. Use a hair drier to soften the plastic to easily bend it over sharp contours.
IMO, chrome door edge guards are an eyesore. Black is nicer because it blends into the door crack and not really noticable.

If you pay $65 or even $40 thats kinda crazy I bought mine from autozone for like $3.50 or something like that, they arent a custom fit but they get the job done and thats all that matters and they dont look bad IMO!
Hi, just a note on door edge mouldings,,(don't do it) the water after you wash the truck stays trapped under the crap and eventually leaves a stain that won't come out. Also they chafe the paint until it works down to the metal and creates RUST.just my openion for whatever it's worth.
You could also look at these from Ford/
http://www.fordaccessories.com/produ...d=1507&dept=27
It lists them as $55.

Did you have the ford factory ones??
The ford ones I install don't appear to be able to chafe due to how well they fit. It does not appear that they would the ability to vibrate. They fit very well.

Not to sound like a smart a$$ but the potential for the door edges to get damaged is in YOUR hands. It you're careful about how you open the doors, you won't get any damage. Besides, I don't like the way they look.
