paint/orange peel issue
Some members here has had it done( DougS, for one comes to mind). But before I'd have any color sanding or buffing done, I would have the paint thickness measured with a paint thickness gauge. Most body shops can do this for you. You sure wouldn't want to cut though the clear & make matters worse.
The dealer had my 2003 for over a week doing the wet sand process, it turned out perfect and looks just like a mirror (when it is clean). I also use zaino on it, so that just makes it even better.
I too was concerned about the body shop taking too much clear off, but they measured it, (both before and after) and assured me that it was fine. They also concentrated more on the sides and less on the roof and hood of the truck. They said because the roof gets the direct sun more, they wanted to make sure it was protected better.
Overall I was very happy with their work.
