Anyone had this problem?

Driving to work this morning and my "low fuel" indicator comes on. I look at my gas guage and it says I still have a 1/4 tank of gas left.

I will keep an eye on this. I have noticed that my guage has been acting a little funny a couple of times but I paid no attention to it.

I sure hop this is not a fualty gauge or a more serious problem

Mine does that also. Still have a 1/4 tank left when the light goes on. Then when I restart it, the light goes off. 2004 Screw 4x4 5.4

Don't know if you guys still have this same problem, but on my truck, the gauge will be at 1/4 tank and the milage say's I have 0kms togo. So I went and fueled up and the thing took 90ltrs, and its what a 95ltr tank or something. So I don't know which on to trust. Cause the milage thing bounced around from 130kms togo to 33 kms togo for awhile then finaly down to 0kms.

Go to the dealer it is a service issue they are aware of. New PCM update will fix.

Mine will come on pre-maturely when I'm parked on a downhill slope. Fakes out the sensor. It must be in the back of the tank. But it won't come on again once i'm back on even ground and driving. That's with a quarter tank too.
How are you parked when this happens?

Heres a question. When I bought my truck in the spring I picked it up with a full tank of gas and computer said I had 720k till empty and I refuel it a bunch of time and and only 643 till empty??

I on purpose ran it to it had 10k till empty and filled it up and said only 680k till empty?? I only once had it say 710 k till empty?

Is there something wrong with my computer? This drives me nuts! I refuel on level ground.

my dealer said just trust the gauge not the computer, I was like oh thats alot of help. When I refuel on level ground and reset the mpg it only says like 550kms till empty on my truck.

The trip meter calculates fuel economy based on averages.

The low fuel light typically comes on while there's 3-5 gallons left in the tank. Reason being, the fuel itself lubricates and cools the pump. Running completely out of fuel may damage the pump, so the light comes on kinda prematurely as a safety barrier for the fuel pump.

I read in my manual that miles to go is calculated on a running average fuel mileage which is different then the average you can reset. You have to disc. the battery for a few minutes to reset that one. So I read on a post here a few days ago. I pay it no attention anyways.

I figured it out my light comes on when I have about 30-35ltrs left in the tank. So what that about 100kms togo till empty but the computer says 0km. Thats calling it pretty safe if you ask me.

Ive noticed when the computer calculates that you have 50 miles to go (gals/calculated miles per gal), the low fuel signal goes on.

What bothers me is on occasion, I'll be driving and know that Im around a quarter tank. Then I'll park, run my honeydo herands, and return to my vehicle and all of a sudden I have over a half a tank. Later on, it'll return to a quarter tank@#$%#%^. This is one I will address my next trip to the dealer
