Went to the dealer...

Problems:
Automate Alarm didn't activate
Dash Noise
Tailgate Strap
Buffing/Swirl marks
Throttle Lag

Dealers response:
Alarm fixed it

Dash Noise pending

Tailgate strap didn't bother because he seen it before and says if he orders another one it will be the same.

Buffing/Swirls marks eye-sore in sunlight, he said not to let the guys buff it since it might spread, and that I should do it myself.

Throttle Lag, I asked for a reflash he said it won't help and to get a Superchips tuner.

Guess im gonna have to take my truck to a professional detailer to get rid of the buff marks.

Then find a Superchips tuner.

Thats my trip to the dealer....Didn't get much accomplished.

Sounds like your dealer is a bullchit artist........

I'd make them order another cable....regardless of what they say.

I would also make them buff/fix your paint. Them being incompetent is NOT your problem. If they are that useless then tell them you'll take it to someone that knows what the f*ck they are doing and you'll send THEM the bill. If they do decide to take on the task, I would take some good digital pics prior to turning it over to them. (just in case they really screw it up)(you know what they say..a picture is worth 1000 words)

As for the throttle lag....that's up to you. A lot of people here have gotten reflashed.....it helped some and didn't others. I would make them reflash it for the hell of it and if that didn't work, then at least you know you tried it. On the flip side....I have the Superchips Tuner and think it is worth every penny.

Yeah if they messed up buffing it the first time, im sure they will mess it up trying to fix it, im just gonna take it to a detailer and get an estimate to fix it. If its not to much i'll pay for it. I just felt like the service guy was of no help.

I'd get that one in writing so when you do get a chip the same dealer won't deny any future warranty claims. In fact, maybe have the dealer themselves order and install the chip so there will be no question of warranty eligibility.

not to sound like a prude, but what exactly is the
huge problem with the tailgate cable thing? If it were the cruddy old metal hinges that trucks used to use, no one would ever notice if one of the hinges didn't extend the whole way. when I put my tailgate down, there is a bit of slack in one of them. when there's weight on the tailgate (when I sit/climb on it, etc), the slack goes away and both are tight.

I'm with with Inbred on this one, don't see the big deal. Both my new F-150 and my old Sport Trac tailgate did the same thing. One cable is tight and the other loose when the tailgate is down and unloaded. But when loaded up, both cables clearly are supporting the load.

this has been discussed may times.

Both are equal length. The issue is that the tailgate doesn't sit flat.

My view is that it has something to do with the torsion bar keeping the gate from being completely flat.

Never thought of that, makes totally perfect sense to me...

If the tail-gate straps are not equally supporting the weight of the tail-gate while it is in an "down but unutillized state", this can lead to the accumulation of water in the third brake light housing. If this condition goes untreated, the water sloshing around in it may cause a steering wheel nibble, which may or may not evolve into a full blown vibration. This vibration will shake the solder joints of the main board in the PCM, causing them to vibrate loose, which will result in intermittant stalling and throttle lag.

Those tail gate straps are important!

Straps

My straps in my Lemon - Buy Back F-150 were replaced and were not equal length.

My straps in my near perfect 2nd F-150 are perfect.

It has nothing to do with any bars or anything else.

The hole on the right side is drilled in the wrong location. That's why there is slack. Some got drilled right, some wrong...

Look at the new trucks on the lots now and you will not see that anymore!

Funny, but if you had to deal with the DSB and 28 days in the shop for 4 months, then tell me how funny it is...

True. Not funny if it is happening to you. On the other hand, if your new truck is giving you some problems, and this is your worst problem you have to deal with, count your blessings.

A little humor should always be a good thing.

I know a family that their son is never coming back from Iraq.

Kinda makes your problem pale in comparison.

need humor. If we didn't we'd all be insane.

True it's not funny happening to you, but it's still just a truck.
