Basic Questions about Ford Gold Remote Start

I have seen questions posted on here a few times about the Ford Gold Remote start but I most of them were about installation and so on....but what I would like to know is if it works in conjunction with the factory keyless entry (do you have one remote or two with the kit), is it a dealer installed Ford item (is it covered by the 3yr/36000 warrenty, and what does it cost installed (on average)?

The Ford gold system comes with two 4 button remotes. It adds a siren under the hood along with the horn for the alarm part. It is covered 36/3 under your factory warranty, even if added after. It works flawlessly with the keyless system. Your price will vary, shop around, some people have paid between 300 to 900 to get it. Cost without install is around 290.00 for the alarm and pats bypass. Heres some of the features:

Remote start upto 500 ft away
Alarm for entry and shock (adjustable settings)
Turn on headlights if needed
Car finder (chirps progressively louder)
Can remove key once car is started and leave running
(nice for short trips into stores)
Remote runtime of 10 or 15 min.
Multiple settings in 5he setup menu

I posted a link in another post to the PDF file from ford on the alarm, if you scan over it, you can find all thats needed as far as info on the alarm in it.

The labor (@$65 a hour, at less 4 or 5 hours labor) at the dealer runs the cost up for the unit and if you have a key pad that you want to use alot, the alarm will go off when you hit the touch the key pad.My 4 year old grandson found he could set the alarm off playing with the key pad. The unit on my 2003 Lariat F150 is great except for the key pad setting off the alarm system. If I had it to do over again I would have droped down to the next one remote start only, less warrenty put the key pad didn't set anything off. The range on it is real nice (better then the org remote)and it works through walls and metal places and Inside Wal mart I have no trouble getting my rig started parked way out in the parking lot.

The keypad will NOT set the gold alarm off when unlocking the doors with it. There is a 10 second delay to allow you to punch the right code in to unlock the doors. It will however go off if you keep punching random numbers on it. Thats how its designed, to let YOU in, and go off when someone else is fooling around trying to break in.

The gold alarm in my '04 FX4 will go off if I use the keypad when it's armed.

If it goes off then it is installed incorrectly. It is designed to work with the factory keypad.
