OIL Change
Actually, there is a plastic drain pan under the filter. If you have your truck pulled up on ramps when you remove the filter, most or all of the oil will drain to the rear of the pan. However, the pan allows for oil to drain from the front also. Normally there will be little drainage from the front if any.
This has been my experiences. Your MMV.

On my cbr1000rr, the manual says change the oil at 500 miles.
The lawn mower, it says do it at 20 hours or so. It can't hurt to change it sooner than later, but to change it very often won't gain you much, it'll just wear out all the connections. I do my cars/trucks at each 8k.

Ok I'll start it. Is Synthetic worth it? What’s the reasoning? Is it less friction on startup, better resilience to heat... Why not use Teflon additive. I know... Get it on!

Synthetics rule. They don't degrade nearly as fast under various conditions, last longer, and provide all around better protection.
'Nanners for meow Mobil-1:
I run Citgo Recycled 10W20.
Its only $.59 a quart.
I run it for 20K miles, and then I rinse the filter out with my garden hose and screw it back on.
The left over water in the filter helps remove carbon from the valves and mysteriously has stopped my rear axle vibration.
Go figure. All this endless debating about oil and the answer was at 7-11 and the carwash all along.

No oil manufacturer has ever posted o/wise (post the link if you can prove me wrong).
I've even read threads where people had this so ***-backwards that they believed they had to "flush" their motor before switching to or from syn.
I will say this on this well beaten subject:
If you run syn and you change your oil every 3K miles, you are throwing money down the toilet.
What weight synthetic do you guys run? I have always ran Castrol Syntech 5w50 in my Dodge trucks with great results but when my dad tried to run it in his Expy it caused valve train noise. ALSO I know in my LS1 cars with Castrol Syntech I got lifter tap so I had to run Mobile 1...has anyone tryed Castrol Syntech in the 5.4 3vs?
