4.10 Gears for 9.75"

I've seen the Ford Racing brand 4.10's being recommended but have not been able to find these for the 9.75" rear on the fordracingparts.com website. I even tried replacing the "373" in the part number with "410" and searching but still no luck. Could someone that has actually bought this gearing post here with a link/contact number so I could get some information?

I'm really hesitant to make this type of investment (I was told $1000-$1500) on such a new truck (less than 2K miles). I'm running 35" tires with the 3.55's now and feel I need to do something. I drive around with overdrive off now because its such a dog otherwise.

Thats my first nanner!

You would think since Pinnacle put the lift on your truck and for what you paid for the addon, they would help you out in this instance..........

Well, I called them one day fishing for advice/input and the best I got out of them was they called Ford Tech before installing the lift to make sure there wouldn't be any issues and the tech's gave them the OK. Its not that I expect a free gearing upgrade, but would be curious as to whether or not they would install the Ford 4.10 gears if I bought them and warrant them like they would anything else.

I was quoted on some ford racing gears 4.10's for the 9.75. I guess you have to call ford racing and get them.

I think I would stay after them on that deal even if you have to call Ford directly. I would insist that the tech that ok'd that came and drove your truck. You've got them (Pinnacle) by the yingyang on this I think. Good luck keep us up to date on what you do...

The classified says those are from national drivetrain...I know jack squat about gearing, so are those good quality gears? If things don't play out on this other plan I might consider them. Just thought I'd see if they were up to par or not. Thanks for the help so far.

For FATHERFORD

I just called the "Tech Hotline" for Ford Racing Parts and the guy told me they didn't have a 4.10 for the 9.75" rear but they made the 4.10 for the front. I asked him why they would make it for the front and not the back and he didn't have an answer. Do you remember who you talked to that gave you a quote on those gears? I'm in the process of negotiation with my dealership and am going to be out of luck if Ford really doesn't even make this gear ratio for our trucks.

Don't waste your time on 4.10s!! With your tires, you should at least go with a 4.56. I just did a 4.56 swap on the stock tires and the truck now drives the way it should have from the factory. Your truck will still feel and be slow with 4.10s. These trucks should have come with 4.10s stock and had a 4.30 option instead of 3.55/3.73. Read my post about my gear swap...

Ford Racing makes the 4.10's for the front on a 8.8" for 96-97 MY only. As far as Ford gears go were stuck with 3.73, 3.55, or 3.31 on the 9.75" rear end, aftermarket is our only option.

You did this gear swap with stock tires?? Do you plan to go with big tires or something? I can't imagine the need to go 4.56 with stock tires....are you getting like 8 MPG??

On the stock 32" tires, yes. I plan on going to a 285/65 BFG, which is like .8" taller than stock. Everyone is deathly afraid of the gear, and whoever puts that idea in their head needs to be SHOT.

I am getting 1 mpg BETTER NOW in city driving. I lost about .5 mpg on the highway. The only way a 4.56 gear would kill your mpg is if you liked travelling at 85 mph everywhere you go. Since 65% of my driving is city, I have an overall improvement in fuel economy. 3.73s are a horrible gear with the stock 32" tall 4WD tires. If you crunch the numbers, it's equal to a mustang with 3.08s...the mustang in 05 comes stock with 3.55s, which is about the same as a 4.30 in our truck!!! The 4.56 is closest to a mustang with 3.73 gears. I have never met anyone who thinks a 3.73 in a mustang is a low gear. I am only turning 2450 RPM at 75 mph. The mpg increase around town is due to the engine not having to lug so damn hard for normal acceleration now.

Try this link or this

I bought my ARB and Yukon R&P from Randys Ring & Pinion for my Ford 8.8 (on my Jeep YJ). They are a great company to deal with. As mentioned, go with the 4.56. 4.10 are not enough for 35" tires.
