Dont waste your money on a 1714, buy the Diablo tuner. The diablo is a far superior product and I will NEVER go back to superchips again.

I have had 2 superchips products. One on my 02 5.4, and one on my 04 5.4. I recently bought a Diablo tuner so I could tune for nitrous, I had no idea untill I plugged it up to my truck how superior the Diablo is to the Superchips...

So take it from someone who has had BOTH on the same vehicle not from people who just say what the read on the net. Get the Diablo.

Diablo doesn’t have one for the 04 3valve 5.4 engine, do they?

FATHERFORD,

I'm sure your experience is what you say it is, but WHY is the Diablo superior to the Superchips?

I know the Diablo is able to be upgraded via downloading, and the Superchips unit has to be returned to the manufacturer, which is a great selling point in my mind, but could you give some examples?

Thanks.

The "XCalibrator" will be 3 custom tunes of your choice plus it saves your stock tune and it comes with the hardware and software to update it by email at any time. It will also give you about 50% more hp than the 1714. So what you end up with is a 30hp+ gain.

Funny how people think their opinion is the only one that's right. The 1714 super tuner more than meets my needs. I don't plan on taking my truck to the strip or even try to blow a hemi away. The 1714 is very simple to use, and for those who want a little better than stock, it is a great option...Kevin

The Diablo is just as easy(I think easier) then the superchips to use. Can get more power, live data logging, blah blah blah blah.

Out of the box, the Diablo's generic tune is superior then the 1714's tuner maxed out.

I cant comment on the other ones, sinse i havent had one and am not going to give the "i read it on the internet" bs like most people do. I can and will say the 1714 is yesterdays trash compared to the diablo.

EDIT:

Also something people say that makes no sense to me... They say "superchips is all i need" but wtf would you pay the same amount for something that doesnt have near the same capiblities as another product? The diablo is just press a few buttons and you have the basic tune just like the superchips. No big deal at all...

To me that sounds like "well im going to pay the same amount for an mcdonald cheese burger when i can have a full 5 course meal for the same price"

Well I have the 1714 and it is great as far as that goes. It gave a greater sotp increase than Hypertech did on my 03 5.4L. But I want more, so I plan to soon get either the CAN flasher or the Diablo and then put the 1714 on the family Lariat. Just cant decide betweent the CAN and the Diablo....
