Shut down one of our own today....
I ran three tanks of 92 oct and went back to 87 oct last night. What a mistake truck is sluggish and showing its weight now. Will be back on 92 oct with a weeks run of this .oh by the way two tanks at 14.3 mpg last one at 15.5 didnt drive as hard LOL.
Just curious as to why some of you guys have to pi$$ on sombody elses parade?
I enjoy reading these performance stories from fellow owners who enjoy the performance of these trucks. I'm not deluding myself, I know that I'm driving a truck and not a GT40. But I test drove all of them (exept Toyota
) And I found that the F150 had everything I was looking for in my first truck. If I wanted straight acceleration I would have bought the Hemi Ram, and weekly fillups of 91 octane.
The F150 gives adequate acceleration and does this on 87 octane regular. Plus it gives a level of ride comfort previously unheard of in a truck. The Ram with it's torsion bar front end drives like your riding an iron rail, feel every crack in the road. same for Chevy and GMC.
Let us have our fun, no harm in that. Is there?

yes...I love my truck...but racing it with anything other than a truck is a waste. I have a Honda Odyssey (yes...thats right...a minivan) that will blow the doors off my f-150, or any other V8 equiped truck other than lighting and whatever Dodges hot rod is, so I am not really impressed with whos truck beats who.
Looks like I made my point.
So you drive it like you stole it eh, bluestang?
I know the F150 isn,t a performance truck like the Lightning or the SRT-10, but it's still alot of fun to stomp that throttle. Unlike the two previously mentioned vehicles, when I need to tow 10,000 lbs I can.
Can't beat that.

The only reason it can is because it is about 2000 LBS lighter. Take that weight off the F150 and you would see similar times if not better.
Just to put things in perspective.

My truck when it was stock did a 7.25 sec 0 to 60mph and 9.95@71.5mph in the 1/8 mile. Bone stock.
Body style to body style and gear to gear the HEMI and F-150 are not far off in performance.

no way in hell the 05gt will fun 11-12second 1/4 mile times without some SERIOUS work.
TBird69........
I seriously do not believe a Mustang GT will run to 60 in 4.7!
My GTP will outrun a GT at any speed!
I KNOW, I've run 4 of these cars with my GTP, and my car will hit 60 at about 5.8 seconds..........
so unless that Stang has a few extra goods, it's NOT gonna see 4.7 to 60........ Just my personal experience......

This thread has gotten off topic. It's supposed to be about the performance of the F150. See my original post and let's get this back on track!
Your right bigdipper The '05 'stang GT won't do 0-60 in 4.7, it does it in 5.5. Sorry for the mistake.

yeah Tbird i enjoy to hear it start up and rumble. Then push to the speed limit and listen to the clean shifts with the exhaust . Even if its only to 40 mph . My saying is R.M.F.R. I know it will be blown away by a ricer but i drive it for fun and enjoyment.

these new 5.4's are fast for pickups and are fun to be in when driving rather fast, however as far as speed is concerned, i thought i had been in some fast cars (11-12 second 1/4 times) until i rode in my friends high 9 second 1923 T-bucket (383 stroker, 530hp in a 1600 lb fiberglass car). It feels weird to pull away from a modded '03 Cobra. That, my friends, is scary fast....
