Question True dual exhaust performance

I'm looking at a exhaust for my '04, SCab, 5.4L, XLT. Thinking about true dual with two magnaflows from a custom shop here in Albuquerque. Any experience with true duals and power gain/loss? I'm also looking for recomendations on pipe size. The only mod is an Airaid intake (which rocks by the way). Thanks

I would stick with the factoy Y pipe & a 3" cat-back personally. I don't think you'll notice any gain what so ever & maybe even loose some Q down low. Unless you wanna keep a motor in it's upper RPM range there is no need for that much flow. Zero back pressure is not always a good thing.

I've got true duals with the two glasspacks underneath and the chrome tips straight out the back. 2-1/2" diameter and seems to help with power. Sounds good too! Mellow 'till you get on it. The Airaid and Superchips 1714 really made a difference. 04 5.4 got 254 HP and 329 FT LBS and 140MPH at the rear wheel on the dyno.

Do you have 4x4 or 4x2?

very interesting.

The last 4x4 I have seen dyno with airriad, magnaflow cat back, and 1714 put down around 220rwhp. Wonder if the true duals make that big of a difference.

I've heard it does, thats why I spent the extra 80 bucks and went with true dual.

what's the Q & HP curve look like? If it's moved it way up toward the 4500 to 5K range might be to high to really use execpt if you wanna race someone. Which is still cool I just like keeping my Q down low for the umph. The Banks system I've on mine is stepped from 3 to 3.5" & I would think if flows more than I'll ever need. Now if you could get some long tubes, H/X pipe, & gears. A high flowing dual could be quite nice on the ears & butt dyno. Man I miss my 5.0L GT.

If I remember right, it was right around 3000-3500. I will have to look at my chart when I get home.

I put true duals on mine similar to what Kev'n has, 2.5" w/ Dyno max Bullets. It deffinetly fells more responsive I wouldn't say I lost any power down low

Max HP is between 4400-5000. Torque between 3000-4000
