It comes down to what you want. I have a 2002 XLT it is very nice but after a year or so I knew I should have gone with the Lariat but just stuck it out. Then my chance came my truck was hit and my wife without thinking said I guess you'll want a new one (door open).

So I am shooting the wad and ordered a '05 King Ranch could have probably gone with a Lariat but decided I will have this truck a long time unless it gets hit also.

But that was after months of trying to decide between a 250 or the 150.

Everyone can say Lariat but if you still agonize over the money then go with the XLT, either way it is a FORD and a sweet truck.
It is your call get what is going to make you happy. It is only money you can't take it with you (I say that with respect, you know your finances best).

I wanted the best, I got the best.

Lariats rule

I wanted the caddy of trucks. What is a few grand more for this truck. It is already expensive as is.

Why **** around adding things to it and possibly screwing up your warrenty?

Go for the Lariat - You won't be disapointed.

I concur.
I like the fx4 cluster over the lariat white faces which looks ricey imo. Im sure you won't be disappointed in whatever truck you choose as longs as its an F150.

I got the Lariat in Black-scab. Just felt you get more options and the truck is truly top of the line. I will probably have this truck for a while so I thought best to get everything. I don't think the price difference was a consideration, since 0% was available.

I have a 2004 Screw Black/Beige with black leather I love the leather(It is 100 times easier to clean),But I hate the fake wood so I just ordered the Black chery wood molded dash kit.The kit replaces the factory wood.

An excellent choice. You really can't go wrong either way, but the Lariat is a really nice package.

Only benefit of the FX4 is the FX4 decal, and the different shocks. I don't need the shocks because I am putting a rancho 4" lift on!
All the pansy stuff. Our family has both and I far prefer the interior of the FX4 to our Lariat!

I wouldn't settle for any less than the best. I love my '04 Supercrew Lariat 5.4L 4x4!

The only difference in "looks" of the fx4 and lariat is the woodgrain and the guages. I think the guages of the Lariat are far better than the FX4, and the woodgrain can always be swapped out. But you can't add all of the options that come with the Lariat to the FX4! If I am going to buy a $41000 truck, I want all of the "pansy" stuff!

But they are all GREAT trucks regardless of our opinions!

I considered the FX4 for a minute, then I decided it was a waste of money. Living in LA, a 4X4 would be pointless for me and a waste of money to boot because I'd never use it.

I think the only reservation I still have regarding the Lariat is the limited color choices. I'd be in heaven if I could get a solid red or even better yet, if it was offered in silver. I'm just not in the mood to own another black truck, even though it looks nice. After 8 years with my black Splash, it's time for a change.

Stupid Ford.

Any decent paint shop can paint the beige red, then you'll have an all red lariat!

I thought about that, Big SCrew. The only thing is, I'm picky as hell and want chrome bumpers. My 97 Splash has painted bumpers and boy, are those things borked with all the little rocks and thingies that have been kind enough to leave their marks for posterity.
