rear end replacement

these guys amaze me at my dealership..after finally getting the right ring and pinion assembly for my truck (3rd time) i take it in this morning and am asured ill have it back by 5 oclock......well he just called and informed me that they were not gunna have it done till tomorrow but instead of just the ring and pinion im getting a whole new rear-end now......im kinda wishing i woulda just kept driving like it was..anyone else had their entire rear axle replaced? i just hope its fixed so i dont have to take it back in again in a few thousand miles......

Yes I have 1000 miles on new rear end and everthing is quiet. This is the only true fix for rear axle whine. At least your dealer is doing the right thing, some dealers are doing nothing. Good luck Also I had 355 ls rearend

Replaced my rearend for the vibe. 400 miles and no vibe yet!?

thats what worries me...my truck had no vibe problems it just had a slight whine noise...i hope they dont cure the whine and give me the vibe trouble...other than the whine my 04 lariat is perfect...

I have the shudder in the rear end when I accelerate from a stop ( just in the morning after the truck has sat all night). I called a mechanic at a local dealership and the 4 trucks that have been in the for that problem Ford has replaced the whole rear end. I thought that was strange when I had read that the cause for the shudder was the clutch pack.
