deciding between crewcab(supercrew) and supercab
deciding between crewcab(supercrew) and supercab
I am thinking of picking up 2004-->2005 F150. A few questions.
Can you haul a 4x8 sheet of plywood/drywall with the smaller 5.5 box on the supercrew?
Will the smaller back seat in the supercab accomidate a baby seat back there?
Does anybody have a picture of the supercab with a 8 foot bed?
Thanks!

I have a friend who has a babyseat in the backseat of her supercab, so I'm pretty sure they fit.
The backseats of the supercab are fitted with anchors/tethers for child seats, as is the supercrew. The fit between back and front seat in a supercab vs. a supercrew is 6.3 inches different, according to the 2005 F150 brochure. When I sat in the back seat of the supercab at the dealer, the size didn't seem that much different than the room in the back seat of my mid-size sedan. Granted, for multiple reasons (including further protection from side impacts and the center console/fold down middle seat) I would probably place a car seat in the center of the rear seat, but I chose a supercab to allow greater payload flexibility while still allowing me acceptable room for my family.
One suggestion would be to take the family, and the car seat, to the dealer. Have everyone climb in and then take it for a test drive. Find out their input. If they find it to be adequate, DON'T take them for a ride in the Supercrew. After all, more is always a good thing...

are you going to be hauling people or stuff in the bed more often. i went with the supercab and the 6.5 inch bed b/c the screw bed was just about worthless imho (not to offend anyone) and i rarely ever have anyone with me other than my lady. i can fit my toys in the back of the supercab without any trouble and people are still comfortable in the back. get the one that is going to work with your needs
My brother has been using a 97 F-150 Supercab (smaller than 2004-5) to raise two kids. But, I still got a Screw to raise my own.
4x8 sheets fit between the wheel wells on the Screw. You'll have to put the tailgate down, just like Scab. The sheet hangs over about 6" past the tailgate on Screw vs. all supported by Scab.

I went with the SCAB because I wanted a pickup truck, not an El Camino...but I rarely need the truck to fit four adults (the scenario that makes the SCREW better) since we have other vehicles to handle the big crowds.
The 5.5" bed works great for me and I do haul stuff with it. Just have never needed to haul any thing super long that the bed extender would accomidate. Unless you haul a lot of wood....
And its a fact, the Screw just looks better!

I think the SCREW looks like a souped up Sport Trac. Cab is too big compared to the bed. Sorry SCREW owners.
All I have is a wife and dogs, so the SCAB suits me fine. Besides, I dont have to sit back there, so I dont really care

Another thing to consider: The front doors on the screw are shorter than the doors on the scab. If you are a big person and put the front seats way back, you may not be able to rest your arm on the door with the window rolled down without your elboe hitting the back of the door frame. Good luck.

Im almost positive the seats are the exact same size in the Screw and the Scab. The only difference is the amount of room between the front seat and the back seat. So yes,, A baby seat will fit just fine.
