I know, that's the first thing I thought when I saw it. And I have one with the console.

I know when I bought my truck the dealer installed the Silencer alarm system on all most all of the vehicles on the lot. Probably a way for the dealer to make a couple hundred when you close the deal. They did ask if I wanted the alarm to stay on the truck and I said yes thinking it wouldn't cost me but it did and I kind of like the piece of mind of having it. The only way it will start if they have the remote or the code for the door to unlock it. If they steal your keys it won't start. Mine is located in the exact same spot as yours MrBig. Looks like it is missing a cover for it though, that is if it actually the silencer alarm.

All I can say is that seems to be a quick and ugly install. If Ford sponsors this type of alarm/anti-theft device, the least they could do is allocate some funds to R&D. I think a ergo place to put the connection would be better in the dash by the stering wheel. It looks like a afterthought.

Just my 2 pennies.

That panel comes off quick and easy if you wanted to replace it. 2 screws and the rest clips in.

that may be the option to go with. just replace the panel and get rid of that ugly plug.
