Looking for Cops who drive 04's

OK - I have exausted all of my possibilities...

I want to have red bulbs for the interior dome lighting of my truck. I cannot find them at any of the local shops like discount or pep boys, tried Galls, and i have also done web searches. I even colored the white bulbs red with a permanent marker, it wore off.

Since I know some PD cars have this option to maintain night vision, I figured one of you guys knows a supplier online, or knows where to get them. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks!

Here is a trick that I have seen done before. Take a small red balloon and put it over the bulb, then cut it to fit. That should give you the red color your after.

Are you developing pictures while you drive.... ?

I've seen some plastic covers, kinda like the balloon idea... I'm almost positive they sell them at Autozone, or Pepgirls...

HaHaHa!

I tried all the local shops, nada, nutting, jack shi#

I'm so wanting this! It looked cool with just the marker on the bulbs, but it wore out quick.

I agree; line the clear housing with red cellophane. I'm an astronomer, and we do things like this all the time. to do it top notch, I'd recomend some spray adhesive.

My guess would also be to get some type of red film. Possibly from a hobby store. I'm surprised none of the fast and furious kids know where to find colored bulbs. Check out a civic forum, maybe they would know.

I think I will try the cellophane if I cant get the bulbs somewhere. Thats actually a good idea. I could use 3m Super77 spray to make the celophane stick.

Not for nothing, but the look is super cool. Makes people do a double take while you are parked with windows down and lights on in the cab. I do like the white light, and it does look like you turned on the sun at night, but the red in the cab is super wild, and it maintains night vision.

OK, so Im a dork, but it is still cool.

You can get a roll of red cellophane at a hobby shop, or wait until february, get your honey some valentine's candy and use the red cellophane wrapper from it.

Or, you could also try the perm marker, but do it on the clear housing and not the bulbs; it shouldn't bake off as quickly

I love this forum, so many good ideas, and I truly appreciate them. I will definately do one of these options if I Cant get the bulb from a police supply or something.

My brother is on the State Patrol in northwestern Wisconsin. I just sent him an Email to ask him about this for you. Might be a day or two before he gets back to me, but I'll let you know when he does.
