quick question regarding towing

this might be a dumb question but anyhow...will the 7 pin female plug that i was using on the silverado still work with the ford male plug in? my trailer also has brakes..do i have to worry about anything?

It should.. the 7 pin plug is an industry standard and all should be wired the same way.
