X or A plan
X or A plan
Does anyone have an X or A plan number they can send me (pssj at earthlink dot net)? I have a friend that wants to buy an F250 (I know...I tried to sell him on the F150 but he needs the extra towing
). He's planning on buying it tonight or tomorrow.
And, if you don't have an x or a plan to give...
Do you think he can get it for under invoice before the rebates? What did you get yours for (in relation to invoice)?
Thanks!

Yikes! I was hoping for something under invoice. I got my F150 in July for invoice not including rebates for an extra $3000.
Anyone else? I think using an x or a plan will get about $1000 below invoice before rebates correct?
Also, what's the tow-and-go rebate? Is that just another term for x or a plan?
Thanks again everyone and hopefully other potential buyers can use this thread for info too! I plan on updating the thread with whatever he does end up getting!

Don't pay for an X plan number. These are for friends and family, I work for Ford and give them to my salesman allyear. We are only allowed 4 a year. I have a friend who may have one for you. Now A plan is a whole other ball game, We can give these only to relatives.
While I can't give you an "A" or "X" Plan PIN, I will give your friend a reasonable price if he/she buys from me. Since I work for a low volume dealership, I'll settle for $500 above invoice of which I make $100. Anything less than that then he/she will have to go to a high volume dealership where # of units sold is more important and the salesmen get paid hourly.
When I go to the store to buy something, there's usually a mark up on the item in question. Little things like cost which includes the actual physical value of the product, wages paid for those that made it possible to bring the product to me, transportation, storage, marketing etc. etc. Of course if I wanted a better price (wholesale) then I could always buy in bulk.
I do have to earn a living too just like everyone else.

I got my 2004 FX4 supercab for $1100 below invoice before rebates. The trick is that U need to deal with the fleet department at your dealership. That's the department that sells large volumes of trucks to businesses. So they're used to dealing with the invoice price and cutting deals. If U deal with a regular salesman they're gonna waste U're time and send U through loops. Just find out exactly the truck U want. Then go online and build it on a site like www.NadaGuides.com or KBB.com and get the invoice price of the truck U want. Then go to the fleet department and say "I know what the invoice price is and this is the truck I want, how much below invoice are U willing to make a deal for." Then U can bargain with him and get as much below invoice as U can. Good luck!

I find this extremely hard to believe. Extremely.
I have been in the Fleet business for twenty years in Tampa Bay.
Nobody is that desperate to sell trucks and work for free.
Must have been an illusion, hate to say it, but no way you got the deal you say you did, unless you buy like a hundred trucks a year and have a FIN code.
I bought my FX4 Screw below invoice as well!!!
This is how it works: (Very Simplistic Breakdown)
Ford issues dealer rebates for specific vehicles on dealer’s lot, known as "loser deals". They are used to attract showroom traffic, and sell stock that has been on the lot too long.
The dealer then sells the vehicle for invoice minus the dealer rebate, and ends up below invoice price.
This is how you can buy a vehicle below invoice. The dealer makes no money on the deal, but will probably get future income from you for their service department for oil changes, maintenance, etc.
No one really loses on the deal because of the large profit margin on trucks. Ford makes around $8,000 for every F150 it sells at invoice. So even if it sells the vehicle at $2000 below invoice, they still make a $6,000 profit anyways.
This is why you can buy new Expeditions for $10,000 off MSRP or Lariats and FX4s for $8,000 MSRP.
You can call any dealership on Friday to find out what “loser deals” they have going for on the weekend.

The last time someone asked me for invoice price for a vehicle I kindly and respectfully told them to go elsewhere.
Salespeople don't like to stand outside hours on end only to spend a couple of hours selling customers a vehicle which will get them reprimanded or even fired for selling, not to mention one where they don't get paid on. The dealership might make their quota but the salesman gets singled out for punishment.
This is not to say that we don't sell at invoice or even below it. We do however get to pick which customer to give it to. If someone comes in with the attitude that it is their God given right to get invoice price then they most definitely won't get it. If however we find the customer likeable and reasonable then we might just give them every discount and perk we can give them.

Ok I have someone that is going to give me an X plan. I have already ordered and haven't signed anything yet. The sales rep says he'll give me invoice plus any rebates. Which is a better deal, I guess if invoice I will have to get him to sign something.
Thanks for the help.

However, when I purchased my truck, there were no rebates except for $500 through my AQHA membership. The AQHA rebate was not eligible for Xplan. My dealer sold me the truck for invoice (without any "hidden" charges or fees tacked on) so it was cheper to go that route with the AQHA rebate than use the Xplan pin I had.
