More Throttle Delay

Only gripe to date... but a biggie as far as I am concerned. The 1+ second delay during passing is not excusable. I've had to change the way I (most people) drive when in this vehicle. Pulling out into the passing lane with the accelerator to the floor should command the truck to move forward... not scare the heck out of the driver with a 1+ second (seems like an eternity with traffic closing in the rear view mirror) dwell, gradual downshift then motion. Dealer says the software is current and that it's just the nature of the electronic throttle. Judging from the feedback on this board, I hope Ford is paying attention... spoiled an otherwise superb truck.

Funny how getting the 1714 tuner changes the so-called "nature" into an almost instant electronic throttle...

Not 100%, but a lot closer to a 'step and go' than it was.

im sure ill echo a thought that most people are thinking. I shouldnt have to go get a tuner for it to perform like it should. 400 dollars to get rid of a delay that can obviously be taken care of quite easilly is crazy. My delay isnt as pronounced as alot of the people here, but i do notice it occasionally and it is annoying. The truck is great and i bought it knowing there was going to be a delay but it would be nice for ford to get on the ball n give us a new flash with the delay gone.

I totally agree that we should be able to choose our tune, if it's just a choice between computer programs.

Since we don't, go to Troyer and get a tuner for much less than $400

Your right, it should come from factory with better throttle response. Have you tried having it reflashed at the dealership? Just because they say you have the most current release, doesnt mean you do. They are lazy, and want to keep from doing anyting. There is a PCM flash that will help a bit, ask your dealer what PCM flash you have, they should be able to give you a # and some here can tell you if it is the most recent.

Otherwise your only choice is a tuner! I love mine!

I read that the 1714 tuner has an 87 octane mode? Does it drasticaly alter the factory shift points or just fix the delay problem with other minor adjustments?

It makes the truck drive the way it should. Gets rid of the delay, firms up the shifts, gets rid of the slippery smooth shifting, raises the shift points. When you push down to pass, it downshifts immediately, no delay. It does all of this on either the 87 octane program or the performance program. Get one, you'll love it.

Not to sound like a *$#$, but didn't you notice this when you test drove?
