FX4 is a trim package. Just like a XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, etc..

4x4 is well, 4 wheels turning!

Thanks

Let me clear that up. So FX4 can come in 4x2 or 4x4? So then it all depends on the trim you want.

Thanks

FX4 is the fancy way of saying "Four X 4." You can't get it in two-wheel drive. Then it would be a "TX4."

So then the only diff bwtn the FX4 and another 4x4 is the trim style.

Basically. The FX4 is designed more for the off-roading with the different shocks and standard equipment. Though the furthest I've gotten to off-roading with mine is skimming the edge of my grass off the side of the driveway.

In addition to the standard features on every F-150, listed below are a few of the FX4 features that are upgrades over XLT.

* Electronic shift-on-the-fly 4x4
* 5.4L Triton® 3V V8
* Off-road tuned shocks
* Skid plates and limited slip axle
* Black bar-style grille insert

Go to www.forddirect.com

do a build your own, select F150 then on the next screen you can compare different models.

Ordered my '05 KR SCrew 4x4 had all this (except the shocks??)
That is why I was wondering what the difference was.

I know when I was contemplating a F250 it gave the option FX4 on the build but when I built the F150 it didn't have that option.

Thanks for the help.

Interesting. I'm looking at it right now for the 2005's and I'm seeing it right between the XLT and the Lariat edition. Weird.

I think most of the options that come with the FX4 are available as side options. The different shocks might not be available though.

Oh yeah, it also comes with this gay sticker that says "FX4" .. hehe. (IMO)

Don't forget the 18" rims. I think that is why the FX4's stand a little higher then the XL's or XLT's.

And, above all...the FX4 is the BEST truck. And it has a REAL COOL sticker on the side of the bed.

17" rims are standard on the FX4, 18" are an upgrade... there are several on the lot where I'm shopping, and the XLT I'm looking at is only 1000 shy of their lowest priced FX4... I've considered whether or not to upgrade, but with no real plans to take it off-roading, I'm not sure it's worth the money. Additionally, if anyone could give feedback on whether or not the FX4 would be as nice on the road with the stiffer shocks when compared to an XLT?

I cant compare the 3 since I have never driven an XLT or a Lariat more than just around the block, but I will say that my FX4 rides as smooth as silk on the highway. Its almost dangerous when I out the cruise on and head to work in the am. I do a lot of driving from south jersey up to NY and Ct. and I absolutely love the ride.

I would say get the FX4 with the 18" wheels ( I think they look a little better with the cutout on each spoke) you will not be dissappointed.

Stop comparing, get all the options and get the Lariat. It has more stuff than the FX4...

Wait a minute... did you say you ordered the 05 King Ranch

That beats the FX4 and Lariat for trim options... We have been trumped by the King

Great choice. Just remember to post some pics when you take delivery.
