Perimeter Lighting

Maybe this is a better forum for this question:
I've tried unsuccessfully to disable the perimeter lighting mode on my 2004 F150 Lariat, super crew. I think Ford has forgotten to activate this function in the onboard computer. The Ford dealer where I bought, doesn't have any info for this function in their diagnostic computer. Page 91 in my owners manual published March 2004 gives the code for enabling / disabling this function, but it doesn't initiate. Any solutions known of? Thanks

Hi ocomof.
Some of the programing instructions in the manual are designed so no one can really understand them.My lariat came with this feature activated so it does work.In this case if you stopped after step three the book is wrong.Step three just puts it into program mode. You must complete #4 and #5 also. Go slow so as to make sure all parts are complete but you must also watch the clock because the time limits are important.

Hope this helps
Mike

Thanks Mike, it does help. Also it seems the sequencing has to be done on the door panel switch, not the fob. Have you successfully disabled the perimeter lighting? I was using the fob and nothing happened. I stopped by my dealer and the tech had a go using the door panel switch, he could get the correct horn chirps and honks but could not get the lights to be deactivated when the doors were later unlocked. He had a call into Ford all Friday the 8th and hasn't heard back from them.

Hey Mike, now that the sun has set in the west I sequenced the open door on the fob and son of a gun, no headlights. You were right the time frame limitation is apparently all important, as well as steps 4 & 5. I think the tech at the dealer was not aware of the time restriction. Thanks to your initiative, I won't be lighting up the neighbors bedroom at 4am any longer. Thanks, Larry
