Does anyone know if the K and N air charger/ offroad kit causes an engine out of the 4.6 liter 2004 f 150 to run lean, similar to that being described for the 5.4 liter 2004 f150?There was discussion about this happening to the 5.4 lter unless using the air force one or airraid fipk.Thank's, Alan 4.6 liter 2004 f150.
K and N kit #63-1096 I haven't bought the K and N yet for this reason.

 

I can speak for the 5.4L. If a lean engine causes the check engine light to come on, then no I have had no problem with the K&N "Aircharger". Otherwise, I have no idea whether the engine is running lean.

I am not sure if lean means the fuel ratio isn't keeping up with the increased air flow, ie. the ratio of air to fuel going in is lower than it needs to be to not run under a lean condition, I am not a mechanic, just making an educated guess.??? My 02 cents worth...
