I will when I can. I'm only on visit 4, actually 3, the first visit with a dealer said 3 techs drove it and could not "feel" the vibe. Needless to say, I've not been back to those idiots. I'll play the game a few more times before I start the DBS process. I just want this fixed, other then vibe, I really like the truck.

I called the dealer and the service manager wants to go for a test drive with me. I guess the first two times they worked on my truck was to simply make me happy that they did something, I assume they did not test drive it.

Just joined this forum. I have a Lariat SCREW with KC build purchased new in July with close to 12K miles on it now. No vibrations or shimmys of any kind through 1 rotation and also after installation of an Autospring 2" and alignment. I do notice one thing though, that the rear end (3.73 LS) slips a bit when the truck is cold. When I took it in for it's first service the dealer said there was a TSB with regards to the rear end and they either changed or refilled the fluid. That has not changed anything though. Just wondering if it's something that normal or if I should be concerned.

For the rear end shudder, I believe the fluid is the first step in the TSB for that. Most often it doesn't help. The problem is actually defective LS clutch packs. They have to be replaced with new parts.

I am about to loose my patience with this POS dealer. I talked with the service manager, whom I was supposed to see last night for a test drive. I'm glad I called (35min drive) while on my way. He said he was the one that test drove it after the 2nd tire rebalance and he was about to leave. He said the new suspension, which is more sensitive, causes you to "feel" the road more. I don't agree that a vibration in the wheel and accel. pedal is due to a more sensitive suspension and is "normal" for this make/modem vehicle. Any ideas? I told him I'd call him Monday.

I'm either considering finding another dealer and playing this game again, or finding a driveline and suspension speciality shops and have them give a written analysis. At least if I need to get a lawyer involved, I've done some do diligence. What do you think?

Just thought I would update everone on my vibration.
again .. I had no vibration at all until I had the tires rotated. Vibration was only present between 55 and 65 MPH.
1st visit to the dealer, they road force balanced the tires and adjusted the mesh gears. Seemed to help but still has a little vibe.
2nd visit was this past Monday. They determined by right rear tire was out of round and replaced it. It had 11K miles on it. Now I have one new tire and the other 3 are at 11K. Not sure I like this much, but so far it seems that the vibration has been eliminated.
I am keeping a close eye on this, as I feel this was just a patch that is masking the problem. I and hopefully that I am wrong on that though and that the problem really has been resolved.

What kind of problems could a new tire "mask"? If you had the vibe, and now it's gone after they replaced the bad tire, it sounds like it's fixed to me.

I understand your feelings here, but do your tires show that much wear after just 11k miles? Once the new one has a couple of thousand miles on it (with dirt and brake dust thrown in), most people probably won't see a difference from your other original tires.

Good luck - I hope the problem is permanently resolved.

I'm at a loss on what to do now. I took my truck to dealer #2 now, which is my 3rd visit for this issue. Guess what they did? They balanced the tires AGAIN! I told the guy before they even touched it that the tires have been balanced 3 times already, once by a Tire place. The service manager was not there on Sat. so I'm probably going to call him.

When the service guy told me this I told him, maybe the tires need to be replaced since they have been balanced 4 times. At least they did say the vibe in the pedal was felt this time. I know the vibe I am having could be considered minor, but the wheel should not have a low vibration in it 99% of the time.

Would I void my warranty if I took it to a driveline shop and had them pull the drive shaft and verify if it's okay or not then put it back on? This way I could at least, if they say it's bad, throw the paperwork in the dealers face and say fix it!

FWIW, I had a friend drive my truck, he has a SCREW and I have a SCAB w/ Towing Package. He said, my truck is smoother then this. Mine does not do this, he said, it's like mine is super road sensitive but he did feel the vibe the dealer does not seem to.

Why does the dealership keep pointing back to the tires? I've read guys with aftermarket wheels and tires get the same troubles. I think Ford is equally stumped.

Just bought my truck last night (less than 30 miles on it) and I can already feel a vibration. At first I attributed it to the tires, since the truck has a build date of 3/04 (so it sat on a lot for 6-7 months). I'm hoping it's just the tires and it will not get worse.

The 1st thing to check is the tire pressure...a lot of these trucks have been delivered with the tires 9 or 10 psi over the recommended pressure. Hopefully, it's something as simple as that and you don't have the chronic vibe that some have experienced.

Good luck,

Good question. I think they hope they can get rid of me because they did something to "fix it". 4 tire balances didn't fix it. Maybe a 5th? ROFL

I've been going through the TSB 04-3-3 steps for the vibration. I just got a call from the dealership that's working on my truck (they've had it for over a week now for this visit alone). They made numerous phone calls up through the chain of command at Ford, and finally found out that there is a known problem in some of the transmissions. My entire transmission is going to get replaced tomorrow, and I should have my truck back on Friday. I will definitely be posting in quite a few threads here on this site the results of the repair.

John ... to be honest, I am just paranoid on the new tire masking a real problem. I have gotten over it! I have put another 3K miles on it now with the new tire and no vibrations.

and no the tires do not show much wear at this time. It is no big deal. I think reading about everyone elses major issues has/had me more nervous than need be.

I will go on record as saying I love this truck. If it had major issues and I had to replace it.. yep I would by another just like it except probably not BLACK.

budget,

That's awesome that you've gone 3k miles without the problem returning. I'm glad you can now fully enjoy your truck.

I hear you about the black color. It's a love hate relationship...I love the look when it's clean and shiny...but hate that it seems to get another swirl mark if you look at it the wrong way and every little chip or imperfections is so noticeable when it's clean. Overall, though, I love the way it looks, so it's been worth the effort to keep it nice.

I'd like to get a Blackwood to replace my wife's minivan...but I think it'd kill me to try to keep up with 2 black vehicles...
