I didn't mean remove the wheel lip molding. You just have to remove the fasteners. Two on each vertical edge and one on the bottom. The front have 5.5mm screw on the vertical edge and a push-in type on the bottom. On the rears they are all push-in style. At least on mine, which does not have the wheel lip moldings, on the rears I cut-off all of the push-in fasteners and used the supplied clip nuts and hardware on the vertical holes and the supplied push-in on the bottom. They supply new longer 5.5mm screws for the front two vertical positions and new push-ins for the bottom.

A little clarification: There two types of wheel lip moldings. One is on the lower bottom of the wheel well flange and wraps around the bottom. These are just to protect the paint. The other type which I believe are just on 4 x 4's are extra molding that goes around the entire wheel well to give additional width for bigger tires.

My truck has the paint protection type, not the entire wheel type.

Ford does make a molded splash guard for both types.

Just installed mine today. Fit was perfect, only needed to drill holes through the wheel lip moulding. Took about 45 mins.

The splash guards are black and the moulding is a dark grey, but it's something that I can live with and it still looks great.

Easy install, and it's something everyone can do in their driveway, no need to pay a dealer for it.

Just make sure you get the exact model of splash guards for your truck.

I'll sell someone mine...i don't like them. I like the old style ones better. Thought that's what I was getting when I ordered them and come to find out they changed the style for the new truck. They just look too wide and gaudy looking for me...the old style just looks better in my opinion.
